Alpha is a US Government contractor, and was one of many companies that made this jacket so I expected quality.
The second bought in 2002 and black but still as good as the day it was bought.
My son loves it and it was a present for him.

If you are trying to decide what size to buy, I'm 6 feet tall and weigh 14 stone. I take large in normal t-shirts, and XL in fitted fashion brands that always come up a bit smaller for some reason. I have a 44 inch chest. For this jacket, I'm wearing a Medium, and I like how it looks. It still looks chunky. If I wanted to look like Dean Winchester in Supernatural, I really could have got away with a small and left the sleeves unrolled. Although the small might have felt tight across my shoulders. The medium is spot on. The medium comes up like Saul Tigh's M65 when he wears one in Battlestar Galactica. Google it and you'll see what I mean. I would probably have looked absurd in a Large. Like a Flying Squirrel. Oh, I do have a liner in mine, but it looks just fine without it. I have a 2008 Belstaff Roadmaster in size XL that is the same size as my Meduim M65

I like the jacket, but it's not built like a fashion jacket. There are many many loose threads and some of the stitching looks childish, but I'm not too fussed. You might be, so you have been warned. If you are wondering where the extra money goes in the Alpha Industries M65, then you might like to know that all the metal poppers and some of the zip hardware is branded, and some of the trim inside is also branded. The built in hood is useless, but I intend to never use it. I'll wear a hat. And the jacket is not even slightly waterproof.

The top pockets will just about fit a bit of paper in them. If you put coins in there, it's not coming out unless you tip the jacket upside down. The pocket openings are too small for me to get my hand in.

I was a bit concerned I would look like Foggy from Last of the Summer Wine, but so far no one has said anything. Possibly becasue they think I I might go Travis Bickle on them.

"You talkin' to me?"

I own a military issue camouflage M65 which I bought from a USAF base in the US many years ago. It is a quality jacket and still going strong. However I have always wanted a plain olive or Khaki version but couldn't find a real one in a surplus shop. I tried a fake M65 from Rothco for a few months but that jacket wasn't up to the job. Instead I decided to buy an Alpha Industries Olive M65. Alpha is a US Government contractor, and was one of many companies that made this jacket so I expected quality. I got it! The Alpha jacket is of outstanding quality. The stitching is very well done, all the buttons are sown on tight and all the studs are pressed solidly onto the jacket. All the dimensions are the same as my 20 year old M65. The only addition is one inside pocket which is useful. Also the jacket seems to hold off the rain very well ( The military issue version never did, you had to uses a rain cape to keep dry) and is windproof. On sizing: I wear XL. My new Alpha M65 is XL and fits fine with the liner in and is OK without, but a bit more baggy than the original, but looks fine.My step dad ( USAF Retired ) had said to me that if you take an XL then buy and XL M65, because if you intend to use it all year round it will be far too tight when the liner is fitted for winter, if you down size too much. I cheated and went down to Silvermans ( An outstanding company ) in Mile End London and tried the jacket on with my liner inside and bought the XL. Think about what you want the jacket for, practical outside wear with the liner in and out, or fashion. Pick your size accordingly.
I am glad I had my own liner as they are expensive to buy unless you get one from Ebay or Amazon USA. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006RKV40C/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o02_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 I
If you want an authentic tough jacket that will last forever then look no further. It is expensive compared to the cheapies, but in this case you get what you pay for. Hope this helps.

Brilliant jacket, was very large for a medium but extremely well made, good quality material and feels like it will last forever. This jacket is a solid four out of five.

BUT

Went to buy a small size a year later as I had lost some weight and the material is noticeably inferior, much thinner and lighter and the build quality was visibly poor. It also didn't fit well. Apparently they are now made somewhere else, China etc.

Definitely no longer worth the money. Avoid.

Such a pity as my older version is wonderful. Penny pinching by the company probably :-(

In my distant youth I remember watching Rambo - First Blood. I was mesmerised by the character and the film became — and still is — one of my favourites. Suddenly M65 Jackets were popping up in shops everywhere. I bought one and cherished it for a long time before time and tide overtook me and it became lost.

Its taken almost 35 years but I've bought my new M65. It feels like my old jacket and smells almost the same (amazing how the sense of smell opens up memory).

The fit is generous, even for my size, xxl. I did contact Silvermans prior to purchasing to ask about sizing and they advised on which one to buy.

I highly recommend this product. Even if it is to re-kindle a lost youth.

Alpha quality. Fitted perfectly. Bought with liner. Now 46 and have had 3 alpha jackets since I was 16. The first still wearable but used for diy painting so a very used work coat. The second bought in 2002 and black but still as good as the day it was bought. Wanted a green olive one. Knowing these things last I'm not sure I'll be around to review the forth but I've a feeling the coat will be. fast delivery and great service from seller.
