Essentially this is a book about a Pack of shifters who just happen to accept more than one species and previously the Alphas mate Miranda had quite a few issues with her new abilities . Unfortunately she lost control severely injuring the Packs second in command Dane. Dane too is an alpha but content to follow Garret and happy that Miranda and Garret have finally found each other. What he isn't happy about is the fact that his innate healing ability seems to have deserted him. Oh and speaking of deserting none of the Pack seem able to put up with his growling ways which means that Lois, a human is the only one who seems inclined to help him. Dane has reasons not to trust humans but that tasty red head is surely going to be the death of him!
Ok I usually fall just a tiny bit in lust with alpha heroes but frankly struggled with Dane. He is this big, gorgeous , former Seal who can shift into human, a bear or something entirely in between. Dane is supposedly an Alpha and yet for much of this story I wanted to tell him to grow a pair! Yes he has baggage but don't we all?
Lois stood out to me as being far more forthright and bold and yet even she at times acted stubbornly and cut herself off . However Lois does decide to grab the bull (bear?) by the horns but I'm still undecided if that helped their romance or not! What I did find incredibly interesting were those characters on the sidelines . There's a dragon with a history that I'm really keen to discover more about and then did I read that right? Is there the possibility of redemption for someone?
Not the usual shifter story and well written . Perhaps a smidge shorter than I prefer but this was an entertaining way to spend my afternoon

It's a hot sexy read. Mandy knows how to write a brilliant shifter story. I enjoyed this book and look forward to the next story in this series
Lois has recently been slapped in the face with the fact shifters exist and that their world can be dangerous. After Dane saves her life she feels a connection she can't turn off.
Dane is a sexy, brooding, bear shifter. Lois is a strong, protective, passionate, human woman. This was a great story with so much and pull between these two! Lois gives as good as she gets which I loved, and they are both strong characters and well matched. I think all the characters are well written and each add a needed piece to the story. There is no needless fluff to this story; every word, character, scene is pushing toward a fantastic conclusion. The story itself has just the right amount of twists and turns to keep you on the edge wanting more. I appreciate that there is not a cliffhanger at the end but more of what I consider an introduction for the next book, because it left me wanting more of this world, which is always the sign of a well written story. I would recommend this story to anyone who loves shifters, paranormal, a great sassy love story, or simply a book that will be a wonderful read!

We have Lois, an artist and Dane, an alpha bear shifter who is also an ex Navy SEAL. Lois refuses to leave Dane alone to heal after he saves her life and doesn't want anything to do with her because she's human...
What neither of them counts is that their mates and being near each other is what helps Dane to heal....
This was another beautifully crafted story of a relationship developing after one has saved the other an the reverse happening when they become a couple.. Again the other characters are also fascinating and hopefully will have their stories told later in the series
