Great story line. Characters were quite different so kept the dialogue interesting and entertaining. Quiet funny at times and at other times one really gets quite annoyed with Ted and his family, and of course the Bride to be monther! Kate is a fun loving woman who suddenly finds out a few home truths and quits her engagement weeks before her marriage! Quite something, but she lives through it and as the storyline unfolds encounters some 'interesting' people. She is quite level headed and responds well to difficult situations. Loved the storyline, couldn't put the book down and was sorry when I'd finished reading it.

This is my first Nancy Warren book and I have to say I totally loved her style of writing. She didn't waffle. She didn't pad the story out.

Now although this is a much tamer romance story than I usually read, I cannot fault the way the author told the story. It was a pure romance and by that I mean, anyone could read this. It wasn't smutty or littered with bad language. It was just a nice feel good story.

It all starts with a wedding dress fitting and that's where the whole family dynamic starts coming into play. Kate's mother was actually quite a bitch and we soon learn that she's not the only bitch in the story. Kate has been hand-picked to be the perfect wife for Ted. No past, just a perfect all-round good girl.

A chance meeting with a stranger, Nick, in a restaurant after Ted gets called away on business leads to some cathartic confessions from Kate, starting with how much she hates her wedding dress!!

The story is very simple but I really liked the way events unfolded and I found it all very true to life. I can imagine a real girl doing what Kate has done in the same circumstances.

I really enjoyed this book and if you want something to read where you can cheer for the heroine, then this could be the book for you.

A thoroughly enjoyable book. Did not know what to expect as had this since December but just read it few days ago and finished it in 2 days.It is an interesting romantic story with a twist. Story starts off with Kate in the fitting room for her wedding dress. The designer Evangeline is known as being a kind of a 'diva' and you have to audition for her to even accept you as a client. anyway she is so cold and snaps at one of the ladies helping her put the pins in place for an alteration on Kate's gown and the lady curses her and cursed the wedding dress. That's how the story begins. Next scene we flash to a restaurant with Kate having dinner with her fiancee Ted who comes from a wealthy family. Anyway whilst eating dinner, Ted has to suddenly leave and he leaves Kate on her own eating. Just as she is deciding what to do, a guy whom was sitting at the bar joins her and starts speaking to her. Kate finds herself relaxing and opening up to this stranger called Nick. she tells him she hates he gown, not really feeling like she has a say in anything to do with her wedding. Kate is usually quite reserved so after a while she just decides to leave and Nick follows her outside and gives her his card and tells her not to marry Ted and to call him if she needs anything, then he leaves after giving her a peck on the cheek. Kate is attracted to him for sure but in her mind she is getting married and that's that.

Anyway on her way home, she decides to drop by at Ted's because she is feeling a bit uneasy about how he left and how she is feeling so she decides to surprise him and boy did she get a surprise.............. and then the drama begins, but hey it is not what you are thinking but i guess you need to get the book to find out what happens next as i dont want to spoil it for anyone. I downloaded it free but it is a book anyone will really enjoy as we will all be able to relate to it in some way or the other.

A great read, I haven't read anything by Nancy before but will be doing in the future as I liked her writing style, not dragging it out at all.
Kate is due to get married to the wealthy Ted it's all kind of been arranged for her but then a chance meeting with Nick in a restaurant when Kate's been left to finish her meal on her own while Ted runs back to work changes her whole life.
Loved Kate and Nick and hope there's a next book.

I'm already on the 3rd book of 5 Almost Wives. Each one so far has kept me glued to the story, following 'the dress'. Not over the top but believable characters who link in with each of the 3 books (indicates with follow on with the remaing two' plus new characters join each one. I've bought all 5 and no doubt will become a regular buyer of Nancy Warren books.

Really enjoyed this book about a cursed wedding dress, the storyline was unusual but enthralling and kept me glued to the end. I really hated some characters and routed for the heroine. I am looking forward to the next book and cannot wait to see who the dress effects next. Well worth a five star rating

A totally enjoyable read. Kate and Nick's story started very different from others. He was sent to try and seduce her by her prospective inlaws, testing her loyalty, which she passed. But she decided that a marriage was not what she wanted. Nick then went searching for her and the rest is history.

This is the first part of a series of five books following brides to be who choose a cursed dress.

In the first book the designer fires the seamstress whilst she is fitting the dress on Kate. The seamstress curses the dress and storms out. Kate is marrying Ted in a huge Society wedding and she's going to make the perfect bride. But after being deserted in the middle of a meal together she finds out some information that makes her wonder whether she should be marrying. She escapes to a coastal town and starts teaching surfing which is what makes her really happy. But will she and Ted reconcile?

I initially thought the fives stories were going to be in this book- so I will be keen to look out for the next book in the series to see what fate befalls the next bride.

Many thanks to Ambleside Publishing and Net Galley for the chance to read this lovely book
