Format: Audio CD
This original album recorded in 1961 was to become the last studio album by the Weavers. At the time of recording it the Weavers were riding on a crest of a new folk revival wave and you would think that they would have done well with this album. Sadly that wasn’t the case.
It is possible that they seemed too old fashioned as a folk group in America when the new folk artists and groups were concentrating on more modern matters.
However this album does have much to offer. The old song Brother can you spare a Dime is well placed here and you would think it relevant even at the beginning of the 60s. The same could be said for the songs Which side are you on, and Fight On. There are old songs, Traditional and new.
The album has some great songs and the performance is as strong as ever despite the absence of Pete Seeger. The group sound great and on top form.
However the album did not help the Weavers gain a come back and the group split up.
This is a good album by the Weavers and it should be given a serious chance.

A great collection of toe-tappin' Weaver favourites - but only 12 tracks and a total time of 32:22. That said, most of the 'big ones' are there - 'When the stars begin to fall' (My Lord, what a morning), 'Brother can you spare a dime', 'Rally round the flag'..... (no 'Michael row the boat ashore', though - and no Pete Seeger). Good listening, but too short for a CD!
