It is a huge undertaking to launch into fantasy as a writer, creating a world that the reader can find believable and walk in imagination. Inevitable comparisons are made to the great and good of the genre and a good idea can be hard to sustain through a whole series.
Yallowitz not only sustains but enhances his world, the plot and the characters. I have the distinct feeling that were we to look inside his imagination we would find him wandering the landscape he has created, interacting with his characters as readily as he does with the more sedate reality we generally walk.
There is a depth and confidence in this third book that has grown from the two preceding volumes that makes me wonder, `Where next?'
And more to the pint, `How long before I find out?'
There is a strongly humourous quirk in Mr Yallowitz' writing too, which I have a feeling reflects more of the writer himself than anything else. You get the sense you'd rather like to meet him over a beer.
So.... A fourth book? I hope so!
You get to be as one with the characters, Nyx a great sorceress Luke a 'hero' and Sari a belligerent gypsy with power, as well as all the other characters that revolve around the story. Really good read and i'm pleased that i stuck with it and looking forward to the next book.
Thank you Charles C Yallowitz for 3 good books and i hope more to follow!

The story follows pretty much straight on from where it left off in Prodigy of Rainbow Tower.
Apart from old favourites Luke, Nyx and Aedyn, we are introduced to a new character, Sari. I honestly found it extremely hard to like Sari. I found her to be a bit of an idiot however I’m not sure if that’s just an act so we will see. I really enjoyed the Lich and Trinity in this book and the banter between them.
I enjoyed the adventure and storyline of this book immensely however i felt that it was a bit all over the place. It didn’t flow as well as the previous two and sort of rambled a bit towards the end before ending very abruptly. I also felt there was a lot of unnecessary dialogue that could have been scrapped to make the book tighter and more interesting. I also found that there wasn’t a lot of mystery or twists and turns. Even though i enjoyed reading the book, i didn’t really keep me guessing or on my toes.
I really enjoyed the action scenes and even wished there was a bit more action – there seemed to be less in this book than the other two.
Overall this book was an enjoyable read however i felt it fell a bit flat and almost felt like simply a filler book to tie up some loose ends, introduce a crucial new character and get to the beginning of the next book. If you’re interested in an enjoyable fantasy series then i would definitely recommend Legends of Windemere however you really need to start with the first book in the series, Beginning Of A Hero.
This story as all others in the series I have read, can be enjoyed by all readers no matter their genre preference. If a reader likes a well-written story with action, surprise, and a big stage this is the book for them.

I will admit I am still a little sad that Nimby and Fritz are gone from the series, but Nyx and Sari are an excellent addition to the story and they really work well as a team with Luke.
The author did an amazing job by phasing out the old characters and introducing the new ones. We also get an interesting look into Luke’s family and his home town and we also find out just why Luke was in the forest that day he came across the Paladin who was dying and gave him the orders to report to the academy. That was really awesome! I love when authors give us the back story of characters we love and find out where they came from and how they became the people we know and love.
I also was very excited to learn that Luke had been given and is using new abilities both on and off the battlefield. An character can have powers and abilities, but how they use them in the story is what can make or break a story. And in this case, Luke, Sari, and Nyx are more than just three sets of different powers, they are fully fleshed characters and they are all relatable.
The action is very well written and it keeps you on the edge of your seat. Also the story is engaging and it flows very well and it keeps your attention right up until the very last page.

Anyone who read the first two books in this series will really enjoy this third installment of the story. I am very glad I read this and I will be moving on to the next book in the series very soon!
I definitely, highly recommend starting with the first book before jumping right into this one.
One of the things I love most about this series are all the characters! They are developed so well that I feel like I know them personally. Even the newly introduced characters fit in immediately.
In fact, when I was reading this I would have dreams with them in it. Kind of like watching a movie/book. That rarely happens, but I love it when it does!
Luke and Nyx continue on with new adventures. The past hasn’t been kind to Luke and he goes home to face his family and friends.
Unfortunately new trials and tribulations face him there as well and soon he and Nyx are on another quest.
Will they have the strength to succeed?
Overall the whole series is great. Luke is a believable character. He isn’t the hero that never bats an eye. He has self doubt and sometimes he is straight up whiny…but he’s real. I know I would be whiny if I were in his shoes
I can’t wait for the next installment!
