This is the story of a friendship that is formed from necessity, a forging of a relationships that had its foundation in a place that was difficult to fathom.
Ronan and Keely have a past, a history that evolved from some of the more abhorrent aspects of human nature, ones that cause nothing but suffering and pain. Childhood neighbours, when Ronan finally walked away from the misery that his adopted parents afflicted on him, the only regret he had was that he was leaving the one person who had showed any kindness to him, listened to him behind.
Ronan may have thought he was able to shut out everything that he had experienced, everything he had seen and been through but when years later he is drawn back in, he finds it a difficult realisation that despite the time, despite the distance, despite his determination, he is right back where he started and the past is very much something that he lives with every day.
One call, just a few words and his life as he knows it will never be the same again. His brother Will and his wife have died in a car crash. This isn’t the sort of news that is easy to take no matter the fact that they were never particularly close but that is not the only reason that Ronan has a decision to make. Because while he has lost his brother, the baby that his wife Izzy was carrying has survived, as has the other passenger in the car – Keely.
Keely, my heart hurt for her. Her tender years mean nothing, she is and does what is needed in order to survive and that is all it is, the loss of her mother was a cruel blow that was only compounded by the misery that her resentful father and malicious half-sister. She never really had much of a connection to her sister Izzy, things were always difficult but for me the whole situation was really screwy.

Over all this is a middle of the road 3 stars for me. Nothing about it- the character or the plot will stay with me.
It follows the story of Keely and Ronan. Both were friends until Ronan left town and moved away five years before. When Keely's pregnant sister and Ronan's brother are killed, he moves back to Fort Collins to take care of Keely and Emma, the baby.
Quite a slow moving, boring book all around for me. Won't be recommending it.

Keely Carmichael is just 14 years old when her best friend and crush decides to leave town. Ronan Sharpe is that guy and at only 20 years old himself, he decides there's a better life for him away from all the lies and hurt.
The story picks up 5 years later when tragic news brings him back to the town he detests, but with his nasty brother and sister in law dying in a horrific car crash it also brings him a new ready made family, as his sister in law was pregnant. At first it all freaks him out big time especially when he finds out Keely was in the car too, luckily the baby and keely survives.
The Sparks start to flicker as soon as they set eyes on each other but because she is only 19 Ronan is convinced it's a no go area. The will they/Won't they? is what makes this a good read. There are also secrets that came out, and the author had me gripped, needing to know if it would be my HEA! I'm not going to tell you, you'll have to read it for yourselves to find out what lies a head for Keely and Ronan I enjoyed reading this book it was very light reading and a good sit down on a cosy sofa read I hope to read more from this author maybe Canters story( Ronan's best friend)..........!!!

Reviewed on behalf of A Book Lover's Emporium book blog

This is the first book I’ve read from Ella Fox and it won’t be the last. It’s a sweet easy read that will keep you hooked to the very last page.
Keely Carmichael has been in love with Ronan Sharpe for as long as she can remember. One evening when she’s 14 her world comes crashing down when 20 year old Ronan turns up to say goodbye forever. Clearly something has happened but she can’t persuade him to stay and so watches as he drives out of town and her life forever.

5 years later and Ronan gets the most shocking phone call he’s ever had and realises that he has to go back to the town and his past that he thought he could forget about. His brother and sister in law have died in a car crash leaving their newly born baby his responsibility. Not only that but Keely was also in the car, being his sister in law’s sister. This spurs his decision to return to Fort Collins and so starts the journey of a friendship born out of necessity but will it flourish and bloom or be doomed for disaster with secrets from a shared past that both Keely and Ronan wish to keep secret.

The writing style is fast paced yet descriptive without being too in depth. You as the reader are left to use your imagination as you wish which I personally like. Although Keely is only 19, she is more mature than most adults I know now. Ronan is instantly loveable and a new book boyfriend to add to the ever growing list!
