I read the book All the Sons of Abraham by Eldred Buck because of the involvement of a Trader intrigued me. Based on the previous experience I had with Jordan Belfort’s book Wolf of Wall Street, I was eager to dive right into this realistic fiction about the adventures of Alex Bell. Throughout the book the bank trader goes through remarkable trials that result in multiple near death experiences.

The theme throughout the book is portrayed by Alex and how he makes dodgy decisions but for the right reasons. We are all human after all.
The book takes place in London, Paris as well as Jeddah. The time period was recent yet not completely modern around the late 1990’s.
Overall the book was very intriguing it had me hooked for hours at a time. I found myself reading everywhere and losing track of time. There an instance of foreshadowing early on that had me guessing what would happen next. This book would be a good re read for sure.

Excellent read, really enjoyed it, artfully written with humour in the dialogue. Loved the banter between some of the characters and that the author didn’t fall into the cliche of using this to carry the story. I liked that you didn't really know where the plot was heading and that the "hero" was somewhat flawed which was great. Interesting mix of characters nicely balanced and believable. Interesting insights into the mysterious world of finance, expat life and, well I guess you have to read it. Amazing ending!
Will def be buying the next book.

This is a great tale about a particularly interesting time in banking and politics. It is clear that Eldred Buck has many years of personal experience in high finance in London, Paris and the Middle East. What is unusual is that a successful financier is also a good writer and in this book Mr Buck expertly links together the experiences and observations of his years in banking in London, Paris and Saudi Arabia into a fast paced drama. We get to know Mr Buck's characters well as he brings together bankers, CIA operatives and jihadists into a very credible story. Congratulations to the author; I look forward to the next story!

All the sons of Abraham is a good read. Although this is not the kind of book I would normally go for I really enjoyed it. At times I did find it a little slow and hard to follow. As the book is predominately about a banker there are a lot of technical terms through out the book. Thankfully the author did explain some of them but not all. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes books that make them think.

This book is intelligently written and the fact that the author is writing from experience shines through very clearly, as the whole situation (and the characters) are brought to life as you read. Definitely one to be set aside for a second reading in the not too distant future!

A financial thriller that makes you think about the cultural differences between the affluent West and the Middle East, This might sound dry, but the author's style is humorous and he has a good eye for detail, a little like John le Carre. The story takes you to London, Paris and my old stomping ground, Saudi Arabia,gradually building to a thrilling and unexpected climax.
I recommend this book to you. I will be keeping it on my Kindle and re-reading it for some time.

This is a great read. Really well written, totally believable characters, engrossing plot with lots of twists and turns. The middle east setting and religious theme is fascinating and enlightening. Anyone who wants to understand the world view from the middle eastern perspective should read this book. And anyone who wants to know what it's like to live the ex-pat life should read this book too!

Once started, the pacey writing, strong characters and gripping story makes it impossible to put it down. I can't wait for the next book from Eldred Buck!

Bought this book out of curiosity then couldn't stop reading it, even read it on the 'Cloud' at work! Its set in the 1990s and follows a successful, wealthy trader through his move from London to Paris then Saudi. There is a romance, its funny in places and it also shows the disparity between the Brits and native Saudis at the time which was quite an eye opener. I never knew financial trading could get so thrilling - and there is a brilliant twist to the end. Simply loved it, know I will re-read it, and hope the author writes many more
