About the Author

Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834 –1892) was a British Particular Baptist preacher who remains highly influential among Christians of different denominations, among whom he is still known as the "Prince of Preachers". He was a strong figure in the Reformed Baptist tradition, defending the Church in agreement with the 1689 London Baptist Confession of Faith understanding, and opposing the liberal and pragmatic theological tendencies in the Church in his day. In his lifetime, Spurgeon preached to around 10,000,000 people, often up to 10 times each week at different places. His sermons have been translated into many languages. Spurgeon was the pastor of the congregation of the New Park Street Chapel (later the Metropolitan Tabernacle) in London for 38 years. He was part of several controversies with the Baptist Union of Great Britain and later had to leave that denomination. In 1857, he started a charity organization called Spurgeon's which now works globally. He also founded Spurgeon's College, which was named after him posthumously. Spurgeon was a prolific author of many types of works including sermons, an autobiography, a commentary, books on prayer, a devotional, a magazine, poetry, hymnist, and more. Many sermons were transcribed as he spoke and were translated into many languages during his lifetime.

Format: Paperback
Small yet packed with great wisdom. This book seeks to not to set the reader straight but enable them to fully understand issues concerning faith with biblical, and non-biblical illustrations. However the script could confuse solely due to the older language and NKJV passages used, but this book is truly worth pesevering to the end. The last chapter and conclusion give a unique personal touch that is encouraging.

His teachings are child like truths, full of life and simple for anyone to understand and to free one of its struggles to have faith. It is the first time I read something explaning in a simple way how to look to Jesus when before it sounded quite unpractical. His teachings are full of good news based on the love and grace of God. He is pointing to Jesus and what He has done for us. If you struggle about salvation, having faith, on how to look to Jesus, this book is for you. I love it. No wonder he was called The Prince of Preachers!
