WHAT A CONCEPT! The Predators decide to seed various planets with Xenomorph eggs to provide worth hunts for their warriors. Unbeknownst to the Predators though, one of the planets has recently been colonised by humans...
This graphic novel opens with three preludes, one about the Xenomorph eggs, one about the Predators' heirachy and one about the hunt itself. We're then taken to a remote ranching colony where a group of humans is caught between the Predators and the Aliens. The development of the female lead character (a hallmark of the Alien films) is fascinating and so is the Predator who turns against his own kind out of a sense of honour.
The art is very good and one of the best pictures is that of the rogue Predator facing off against a half-dozen Xenomorph.
Basically, this book captures the essence of both the film franchises and is the best and second best crossover for the Aliens and Predators respectively (the best Predator one has to be 'Batman vs Predator'). Plus, it's a nice weighty book and makes 'graphic novel' a truly appropriate name.

This is a compelling comic book, that isn't just made of up of cartoon drawings, but a great story line. The artwork is of the finest and I've never seen an comic artwork as good.

There's a pretty simple but very effective start to this story. Predators go off for a hunt on a planet but haven't bargained on humans having settled down. Naturally, the humans are the ones caught in the middle as each side start slaughtering.
The storyboard is very good and even the storyline is very intelligent with a slight twist at the end of the book.
For those thinking what an Aliens vs Predator movie would be like....read this first.

Most of the AVP franchise comic books are of at best average quality (some are purely and simply worthless) - but this is a JEWEL. The story is great, smart, fast paced and really catchy. I just couldn't stop to read this one, even if I am really not a teenager any more... What a great idea and what a great "hero" - the girl in this book (Machiko Noguchi) is really special. And the relation between her and the Predator survivor is special too. Such a pity, that the sequels of this great comic book so completely wasted the possibilities... But at least this one is GREAT. I gave it a nice plastic wrapping and I keep it safely tucked on the special shelf with my little treasures.
