I don't think you can ask for much more for two quid.
“The maps in the eBook/Kindle version are hard to read and you can't even see the street names so, once again, you'll be better off getting a free map when arriving at the Airport or Central Station” - 2-stars
“Not useful and poorly laid out. Was surprised by the low quality from the Rough Guide brand.” 1-star
“Shoddy digital rehash of a book. Tiny maps did not zoom. Almost useless on phone apart from review info. I want my money back” 1-star
“I would rather have this than nothing:” 2-stars
“There isn't a great deal of information, the maps are entirely useless as they don't zoom and were still impossible to decipher on a10" tablet (you would have no chance with a phone screen!). It only cost me a couple of pounds but to be honest it isn't even worth that.” 2-stars
“A really useful little guide but as ever the maps on the kindle version were useless” 3-stars
“Also contains maps which are almost completely useless on a kindle” 3-stars
“Very useful guide with accurate, up-to-date information. If the maps were readable, it would be 5-stars!” 4-stars
“Very useful but would prefer pictures as well.” 4-stars
“the maps are tiny and unreadable in the kindle version.” 4-stars
“A Kindle edition of a travel guide will never be as appealing as a glossy book with colourful photos, but for this price the book met my needs” - 4-stars
“FINE” - 4-stars
“All fine.” - 5-stars
“For me, this guidebook had everything I needed. The maps of the city may not show perfectly on a Kindle (and the monochrome format hinders understanding of the Metro maps), but really, who relies on maps like that to get around these days? I go with an offline map on my phone. If you've got enough familiarity with technology to use a Kindle, I'd strongly suggest investing in a good offline GPS map for your phone too (personally, I use Sygic for my Android phone, which has served me well in the US, Portugal and Belgium so far, as well as the UK).” 5-stars
To be fair, there are probably as many 4 and 5-star reviews as for lower rated ones for this series, but where any meaningful comment has been made, it is primarily that the maps are unusable, especially on a smartphone.
So - ask yourself whether you just need the basic information provided by these downloads, and take a printed map with you, or find a pocket guide (or an on-line site) that you like.
