This is not a patch on the original, but when Jude Law did his version this one seems to have been forgotten. This one has Alan Price in the title role and as far as I know is his only appearance on film. This follows in a similar vien to the original with alfie talking to the folks at home and this time he's a long distance lorry driver who has a great time with the ladies. It has what you would expect with Joan Collins as the older woman, but has a very sad ending which I will of course not divulge. The 1966 version had the hit song ALFIE inspired by the filn sung by Cilla, this time she goes one better by singing ALFIE DARLING( written by Price)during the film. All in all not bad but it could have been so much better.

Oh dear where do i start, well its like this, one evening my wife and i was watching the fantastic film, Alfie, staring [Michel Cain] and later on that night i was looking through Amazon on the internet and just out of curiosity i had a look at Alfie when i noticed that there was a follow up film, now this surprised me as i am 64 years of age and Alfie has always been one of my favourite films so why had i not heard of Alfie Darling?,this i cant explain except that maybe i thought its so bad that i might have put it out of mind, any way seeing that it was only £3+ i thought that i cant far go wrong, how wrong can a person be, to say this film is bad is a understatement, from the script, the direction, and the appalling acting, this film is really bad, if you like me enjoy the first and certainly not the remake of Alfie than leave it at that, as this film Alfie Darling should never have been made, at least not like this, if only it could have been made with the same love and attention that the first Alfie film had, but instead they made this with a boy, Alan price playing the lead role, sutch a mistake, but then this is just one of so many mistakes this film has to offer,do your self a favour and dont be tempted to buy it no matter how cheap it is as you will regret not only wasting your money but also the 90 minutes of your time watching it.

This film doesn't have a fraction of the wit of the 1966 Alfie. It's much closer to being Confessions of a Lorry Driver, rather than a remake of Alfie, with Alan Price imitating Robin Askwith, rather than Michael Caine. Still, it does serve to show how charmless the 1970s could be.

Best avoided.

Excellent. I thought Alan Price played this role better than the other two 'Alfie's'.

IN ALFIE DARLING ALAN PRICE TRIES THE IMPOSSIBLE IN TRYING TO CONTINUE IN M.CAINES SHOES BUT SUCCEEDS IN MANY WAYS,TO MY PLEASANT SURPRISE.THE PLOT IS EASY GOING ALL THE WAY EVEN WHEN ALFIE FALLS FOR THE LOVELY JILL TOWNSEND.IN BETWEEN THE SEXY JOAN COLLINS SPICES THINGS UP WITH HER NUDE APPEARANCE.
THE TRAGIC END IS A CONTRAST TO THE WHOLE SET UP,BUT DEATH IS A PART OF LIFE SO IT COULD BE PART OF THE STORY.A VERY DECENT EFFORT AND WELL WORTH WATCHING.
