Alexander Clement was born in Woking, Surrey, and in his early childhood lived in an Elizabethan house with secret rooms between the walls. He had an imaginary friend called Omily Topatus who inspired his series of books about the character and his adventures with the young hero Inego Jones. He studied Art & Design History at Staffordshire University where he developed a profound love of Modernist architecture, an interest that would inspire his non-fiction work including a book on British Brutalism published in 2011. Alexander has worked as a museum curator and an antiques valuer and auctioneer, appearing regularly on ITV's 'Dickinson's Real Deal' with David Dickinson. He lives in Cheshire with his artist wife Andrea and their son Theo.
