Fabulous book! Thoroughly enjoyed it. This story is about Alex, a gorgeous ice hockey player who has had a grim childhood and is an isolated, socially withdrawn adult who has lost his love of hockey. He is forced to cross paths with Sutton Price who works with children affected by parents with issues. Their attraction and chemistry is intense. Can they be something special together ? Can Sutton heal Alex or are the ghosts of his past too strong?
This book has an engaging storyline, beautifully written characters, lots of chemistry and passion and it has a real page turning quality about it. I am officially hooked on this series. Am hoping that Garrett's story (2015) will keep us up to date on Alex and Sutton.
If you love hockey themed books, hot romance and a series to lose yourself in.....go 1-Click !!

Pushed into a career on the ice that wasn’t what he would have chosen for himself, Alex Crossman lives life with distain – for everything and everyone.

Life as the Most Valued Player is completely and utterly meaningless to a man that doesn’t like what he sees when he looks in the mirror in the morning. But value or not – Alex has the art of being a class one prick down to perfection and has no intension of changing his modus operandi any time soon – or so he thinks.

Because when the team have finally had enough of the attitude he is left with the unwelcome option of cleaning up his public image to the management’s satisfaction of warming his arse on the bench for the foreseeable future. Hell is that a choice?

Stepping into the fray Alex, joins forces with Sutton – a dependency councillor to help with her drug awareness program. Surely a huge star like him on board will do the program the world of good – well you would think but their initial meeting was hardly a stellar occasion – Alex was in fine fettle and his arrogant bastard persona was front and centre. Lucky for him Sutton has dealt with his sort before and getting her to take his bait was never going to happen. She saw through him fairly early on and I think she could read the pain that he tried to keep locked away inside.

Alex is everything that Sutton shouldn’t want and he is definitely the wrong side of the private /professional boundary but she can’t keep him out, he works his way under her skin and she is smitten. I would love to say that it was easy for the two of them but when they took the step over the professional line – their private relationship wasn’t an easy ride.

My rating: <a href="https://www.goodreads.com/review/show/1207355101">4 of 5 stars</a>

Well paced sports romance.
This story follows a Hot hockey player Alex and Drug abuse guidance councillor Sutton on their journey through life and love.

Alex, a 26yo closed off ice hockey player, well renowned MVP, Most Valuable Prick who has a cold demeanour on and off the ice. He hates the career he is supposed to love, shuns his team mates, the limelight and his heart. He has no heart.

Meet Sutton a 22yo drugs guidance councillor, thrown in to encourage Alex to look more kind hearted towards his fans and the public. Help chisel off that big chip on his shoulder that the Cold Fury management take offence to. They have to work together on a young kids at risk project that will fall over the following 6 months.
With one luke warm at best previous 4 year relationship under her belt, she comes across as a very strong and open woman. She is sure in her identity which I admire. (I'm getting sick of reading about broken and insecure heroines)

This was a lengthy novel that follows Alex and Sutton as they discover and grow with each other all the while exposing many hidden skeletons from their closets.

4.5 stars! Another great series from a brilliant author, I loved, loved this couple, it's not often I like the h/H both, but Sutton was pure kind heart and loving and Alex was battling demons that were none of his fault, they were perfect for other, they had a sudden attraction with Alex coming off as some aloof playboy, Sutton saw through this immediately and just gave him her time, kindness and understanding and she slowly managed to burrow deep inside Alex and made him see how worthy he was. Now for me, the best bit was seeing Alex go from a not much liked a-hole to a great guy, with teammates who liked and valued him, Sutton's family who loved him (especially Glenn, so adorable) a best friend in Garrett (so, cheeky)! and all because of Sutton and the unconditional love she showed. My only issue was with Alex and his dad, I get he had an addiction and there was a huge history there but I couldn't forgive the awful things he said and to Alex as a child and as an adult, but heh that's just a personal thing. All in all a wonderful start to a series and have to say I thought Alex's little stunt at the end was perfect also the epilogue was a cracker too, left me with a huge smile on my face. Next up Garret's story!
