Alec Beattie is a prize-winning writer and spoken word performer/promoter based in Paisley. He has written, produced, and performed in shows during the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, the Edinburgh Horror Festival and the Scottish History Festival. He has read his work at the Edinburgh International Book Festival and his stories have appeared in print and online, and have been read on national radio.
He has published a collection of short stories (Mendacities, 2015), and three parts of the September 1919 (2015-17) trilogy, Build The State, Rule The State and Flee The State, with the full volume published in 2017.
He has also co-authored Edinburgh in the Shadows, a collection of stories, tales and poems featuring some of Edinburgh's lesser-known miscreants, unfortunates and flawed geniuses.
He is currently working on another collection of short stories and another novel provisionally titled The Man Who Searched For A Banana.
He lives with his wife and two cats.
