Unadulerated pure pleasure.
Felt the need to write my thoughts on this latest offering from KEM,as a avid listener to the likes of Lynden David Hall, Kenny Lattimore,Eric Benet to name but a few I was shocked to find out just how good this CD is as up until this point I had heard very little of KEM's previous stuff but even compared to what I had heard this album shines light the brightest star.....
My advise is to buy it and buy it now....other than Kindred and the family soul's new cd this has got to be the highlight of 2011 in listening terms.
The first two tracks "When I'm Loving You" and "Can You Feel It" are very groovy soulful tracks, reminiscent of Luther Vandross at his soulful best. "Share My Life" has similarities to Lionel Richie's "Don't Wanna Lose You" and is another strong track. "Human Touch" is very jazzy and slick with soft vocals and could have been penned by Will Downing. If I am honest, "If It's Love", "On My Mind" and "Golden Days" are pleasant, but a little bland.
What I find Kem does best are the soulful heartfelt ballads and there are 3 very beautiful ones here. "Love Never Fails" with a simple yet effective arrangement, "Mother's Love" with a piano accompaniment, and the lead single and highlight of the album for me, "Why Would You Stay" with a beautifully romantic feel to it.
This third release has been a long time coming, but well worth the wait.
