Wrong size

This adapter is the right size internally to hold an SSD drive but the outside width is too narrow so I could only fit it using screws on one side. My 3.5" drives fit perfectly in the PC case so I know the case is correct. The other problem is the tapped holes the mounting screws fit into are not quite in the correct position, being slightly too high and it was very difficult to fit the screws, which as mentioned I could only do on one side as the outside width of the adapter is a few millimeters too narrow.

Slightly disappointed to discover that it doesn't have threaded holes on the bottom face where the Western Digital 3.5" drive I was replacing has them so it wasn't a direct replacement for me - I had to wedge it into the drive bay and it's not securely fixed. For sure most drive bays use the threaded holes on the sides and it would be fine in that scenario but the Dell Studio XPS 435MT fixes its hard drives directly to the chassis using those bottom holes. Now perhaps it's a bit unfair of me to knock two stars off for that since it's admittedly my own fault for not checking where this adapter had threaded holes before buying but it surely wouldn't have been a big deal to have those extra holes where 3.5" drives have them?

Disk enclosures come in many different forms. This unit has very good construction compared to most and when you hear the phrase ' You get what you pay for', This is a good example of a quality offering. The logics work. The case protects thee 2.5 inch disk, It mounts accurately in the tower. If you are looking for an enclosure to mount SSD disk in a desktop, this is the one you need.

Might Not Fit Your Case. Buyer Beware!

I thought this would be an ideal item as it is by the same folks that made my PC case, but it does not fit in the 3.5" holder. It is too long so the front holes are past the end of the frame and the back holes do not line up with the case holes if it sits on the mounting frame.

As it's holding an SSD I have made it secure with two of the four screws.

Seems sturdy, but might be an issue for some cases

Does the job, provides a sturdy frame for 2 2.5" drives. Comes with screws and manuals. Can't ask for much more.
My only gripe is that the screw holes are of a thinner thread, which I believe is the sort used on 2.5" drives. Where as 3.5" drives use the wider (larger pitch, as it's known) thread. This isn't normally a problem, as they provide suitable screws. However my case, Antec P180, uses rubber gromets to hold the hard drives in place, and so I can't affix them properly, as they need special screws, which only come in the larger thread size. So unless I can find the same type of screws in smaller thread, I can only bodge it with random thin thread screws that mean it is loose and hangs about inside.
I don't know why they didn't use the same thread size as standard 3.5" drives, for compatibility.

It fits my Samsung Evo SSD fine but does not fit my 3.5" housing which is strange as the tower is a recent model Akasa, same as the adapter!
Possibly a combination of poor case drilling and adapter, although my other HD's fit fine.
Sorted with either a file or a drill to open up the housing mount holes.
One good point as it comes with all the screws needed.
