Product Description

Corgi are proud to introduce the first and only die cast collection to be inspired by the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, which we hope becomes a lasting legacy of a monumental moment in sporting history. Whether it is a high end, authentically detailed Limited Edition piece or the start of a multi piece ‘collect them all’ series, there is something here for everyone.

The double Decker bus was the official mode of transport for over 6,000 athletes during the 1948 London Olympics. Special services began on the 8th July and ran to the 21st August 1948,345,000 miles were covered. The London Transport Executive was formed in 1948, the year of the last Olympic Games hosted in London, as part of the government’s massive post-war nationalisation programme.

LT entered public ownership as part of the British Transport Commission which also owned the newly formed British Railways. The red double decker bus remains an iconic symbol of London and will be seen by millions of visitors to London during the Olympic Games.

Its not a toy, but one for grandads collection, much to nannies annoyance! It's a must have if you are a collector though.

I ordered 2 buses from Amason for my sons. I bought them not just for their Olympic status, but as a piece of family history. My dad used to drive this particular type of bus for a living.i also remember travelling on them as a child swinging on the pole. even jumping on the bus whilst moving! this before they were replaced by ones that had the driver up front with a mechanised door doing the job of driving and taking fares, doing away with conductors or 'clippies' as they were fondly called. My dad met my mum on the buses, as she was a clippie. These toys are solidly built.they are a bit of history for anyone over 40 who lives outside of London.

Purchased for Grandson for Easter, instead of masses of Chocolate Eggs, because he had told me this was the only toy he did not have, but very much wanted!! The bus arrived promptly, well packaged and before the forecast delivery date.It is a well made, sturdy replica of the Routemaster Double Deck, London Bus, and he is "over the moon" with it. (and it lasts longer than chocolate eggs) For the price, I consider it to be a very good buy, and would not hesitate to recommend Hornby Hobbies Ltd, for the standard of their product and the service provided.

Quite satisfied with this bus model as well as the delivery speed. This model looks real, and it is also a nice olympic souvenir for collection.
