Synopsis

Created by Donald P. Bellisario (JAG, Magnum P.I.), Airwolf was among the many action-adventure shows of the 1980s that garnered a cult following. Jan-Michael Vincent stars as the improbably named Stringfellow Hawke, a Vietnam veteran still troubled by the disappearance of his brother during the war. Secret government agent Archangel (Alex Cord) approaches Hawke with a unique offer: to help him recover and then become the de facto pilot of the powerful, top-secret helicopter known as Airwolf. With that proposal begins Hawke's adventures, along with his sidekick Dominic (Ernest Borgnine) as pilot of the advanced aircraft. Contains all the episodes from the second series of the show.

This is the 2nd series and thankfully retains its core cast of:

Jan-Michale Vincent: Stringfellow Hawke
Ernest Borgnine: Dominic Santini
Alex Cord: Archangel
Deborah Pratt: Mariella

Unfortunately the producers of the show started interfering with the show, against the Creators wishes (Donald P Belisaio creator of Magnum, Quantum Leap etc) wanting to make it more family friendly, jazzing up the Theme tune, adding more elecronic sounds to the soundtrack (all detriments) and also adding a female lead(Jean-Bruce Scott as Caitlan O'Shaughnessy)which unfortunately throws the narrative off and makes the show uneven. Whilst not a travesty this season saw it take the Knightrider route with Airwolf less involved in Government issues and more into a sort of dispute settler. All this conspires to detract from all the good work establsihed in season 1. The show also amkes the sin of having some actors from the previous series return in different roles and also of very noticably re-using stock footage.

The episodes are:

Sweet Britches
Firestorm
Moffett's Ghost
The truth about Holly
The hunted
Sins of the past
Fallen Angel
HX-1
Flight #093 is missing
Once a hero
Random Target
Condemned
The American dream
Inn at the end of the road
Santini's millions
Prisoner of yesterday
Natural Born
Out of the sky
Damnbreakers
Severance Pay
Eruption
Short walk to freedom

The DVD again has no extras, and the screens are not as nice as series 1. It still has the airwolf theme tune playing but looks like less effort was made for this one.

Bought this box set as I fancied watching some of the stuff I grew up on. I must say it took me back lol. It's a six DVD set, no extras at all sadly. However the product is good quality and considering I bought it used I am very happy. Only very light surface scratches on 2 DVDs.

Ever wanted a series where theres a bit of everything in it, well this is the ultimate action series from the 80's. Stringfellow Hawke and Dominic Santini (Jan Micheal Vincent & Ernest Borgnine [R.I.P. you are greatly missed]) fly missions for themselves or Micheal Colesmith Briggs III ( codename Archangel ) for a special branch of the CIA. Action sequences are just stunning, along with outtakes from popular films seamed into the plots on each episode. Out of all the Episodes "Moffet's Ghost" guest starring David Hemmings has to be one of the best ever made.

Relive your youth of childhood and get the sets they are fabulous repros and played in either 4:3 or 16:9 makes no difference to the enjoyment. Since I got this last week Im now on the third time of watching the series. Sad it may be but with scenery and action as well as plots and humor like this all in one show who wouldn't. As for the helicopter, for those of you who can afford the luxury there is a radio controlled scale version of the model that actually flies, member of BMFA be your own Stringfellow Hawke. I got the model and it flies superbly. Guns and ATF pod need adding to it.

A full season of episodes and a new character joins the cast. Not an eye candy gimmick 'Caitlin' Is a feisty fully qualified pilot herself who likes getting in on the action. Season not quite as hard edged as season one.

The opening season was short and merely got you ready for more. This delivers far more episodes and introduces you to some new characters. The stories are pretty much an 80's thing and arnt too silly. This was pretty much 80's prime TV viewing as String Fellow Hawk ,yes thats his name, flies several covert opperations in his super hellicopter. You may enjoy this sort of thing. Some people cringe over the 80's but i found airwolf quite good.

Adding Airwolf package (vol. 1, 2 and 3) to my DVD collection was a great experience and a wonderful trip back in time, to the 80's and 90's when this series was shown on TV. Swift action, well-written characters and - last but not least - the breathtaking flying machine. If you ever dreamt of making an inside loop with a fully armed helicopter attacking all the bad guys in the world, this is a must-have to your DVD collection.
