Airwolf The Movie is a futuristic high action adventure about an awesome billion dollar helicopter equipped with a twin-turbine drum rotor system capable of propelling it to 300 knots, plus 14 firepower options. When the helicopter is purloined by Libyan mercenaries, Michael Archangel (Alex Cord), project director of the CIA, enlists the help of Vietnam veteran Stringfellow Hawke (Jan-Michael Vincent) and his father's best friend Dominic Santini (Ernest Borgnine) in an attempt to recover the Airwolf. A deadly mission which takes them to the Middle East, where they come face to face with the enemy in a dirty battle to repossess the deadliest aerial weapon ever made. This should have been a Fabulous Film, as I have been an Airwolf fan since childhood. Instead, it has shown me that blu-ray does not necessarily mean a quality production. I shall think twice before buying an older film on blu-ray in future.
The 4:3 image is squashed slightly so is not even normal 4:3.
EDIT: Performed A Check To Verify...
On my 47" TV this Blu-Ray plays back 71x58.5cm which is 1.21:1
Playing back the Blu-Ray release of Space 1999 I get 77x58.5cm which is 1.31:1
A True 4:3 item in theory should be 4:3 which equals 1.33
Thus Airwolf is less than 4:3 and I assume is an error in the mastering process (perhaps mastering is not the correct word in this case).
Picture quality is below the quality limit of a well mastered DVD and indeed is a let down.
Sound is also only LPCM Mono and the only extras are some publicity shots form this 'movie' and the series.
However, even this is done poorly with some photos repeated.
Lastly, I would say by today's standard this film would be a PG rating rather than '18'
Whoever did this apparently have no or very little experience with remastering for high resolution - or they just didn't care!
As a result of the remastering process there's a lot of combing and interlacing issues, and the resulting aspect ratio is not the advertised 4:3.
You would probably get better quality it you purchased a DVD version of this TV movie.
it's a must see film and the seires that goes with the film.
I will give this film 10 out of10.

The movie is the pilot movie unchanged and unenhanced. Disappointingly its not full screen, it only comes up 4:3, but thus is probably an issue with the source. Read morePublished 1 month ago by Mark Coleman
I was and still am a fan of the TV series but the terrible picture and audio quality on this Blu-ray, make a very distracting watch. Read morePublished 8 months ago by Central.FM
