Product Description

Airboarding is a high-tech twist on traditional winter sledding. Riding an Airboard is similar to riding a bodyboard in the ocean. The Airboard is inflatable and has grooves on the underside that allow riders to make sharp turns and stop quickly in the snow. Unlike snowboarding, airboarding doesn’t require a lot of equipment and it’s very easy to learn. Only weighing 6 pounds, the Airboard is easy to carry. Riders have been known to reach speeds of more than 80 mph.

HASH(0x933416a8) out of 5 stars Greatest sleds ever 11 Nov. 2012

I bought an AirBoard Freeride about six years ago. Then I bought two of the 130's and two of the classic 50's for my younger kids. We use them every snowstorm since we have a good sledding hill near our house. We like that you can steer them, so it's much safer than tubing. Because you lay on the inflatable sled it's much softer and safer than hard sleds. We seldom get any injuries. We love these; the only downside is they are quite expensive, but they are well designed and are much better than any other sled design that we have tried.
We still use all five of our sleds; just deflate and store them over the summer, then pump them up again and use them in the winter. We once had a sled hit a barbed wire fence and popped it, but we were able to patch the hole with no problem.

The picture is an airboard freeride 130 the 180 is a bit bigger. That said I have a 180 and the thing is great I have been riding airboards for about 5 years. I bought the 180 aabout 4 years ago and it is still in perfect condition. That said if you really want to have fun on these search online for Ski resorts that allow you to ride them on the slope. I ride at Canaan Valley West Virginia were they have a pretty good setup. The bairboards are a lot of fun they can go pretty fast but once you get the hang of it which doesn't take long they are pretty easy to control. Just lean to one side and it will turn lean harder it will turn faster.

I tried skiing but I like the airboard a lot more closer to the ground and feels a lot safer to me. By the way if you are not sure about try going to a ski slope that allows them and they should have them for rent as well as classes to get the most out of it.
