Very nice antenna. I use this for Flightradar24 via a Raspberry Pi. Very easy to install, standard antenna mount. Used an adaptor I already had to mount vertically on the top of a window turret (about 25 feet up or so). I get lots of hits as I live just east of the Stansted CTR so get all the departures at around 3000 ft or so. Also get lots orbx hits from transatlantic traffic from Europe heading westbound. Got this as built my own Raspberry PI, SDR station so I can tag some free tracking subscriptions from all over the place.
Improved the range immensely, unfortunately I have a line of trees behind my house to the south so no matter how I install the antenna unless its on a 100ft pole I'm not going to get much in a southerly direction. However it did improve the other areas from around 45nm to around 170nm from where I am. It could be that its mounted outside as opposed to indoor where I had it before but still it works well.
Picks up all ADS-B, but until the little green men catch on and fit an ADS-B Transponder in the flying saucers, sadly I will not pick them up yet...

The original aerial I could get 50-100 miles.
With this aerial I am now regularly receiving signals over 150-200 and a few at 200-250 miles.

I am impressed with the build quality and the fact it comes with several meters of cable and the right connector to fit my FlightAware pro stick plus.

Bought this to go outside but before fitting it I placed it within two inches of my cheap plastic starter aerial I got with the receiver and then moved the connection over. Result? Exactly the same. This aerial gave no performance improvement over the cheapo aerial. OK, It's designed to go outside and, I'm sure, when it's on my roof it will give a better performance but now I wonder if I should look for something better before going to the trouble of mounting it outside. So the short answer is, if you're looking to improve your reception through just replacing the aerial, don't buy this aerial. Its a complete waste of time and money.

Only the antennae and cable was switched - this one has an integral cable, the Pi Hut one had a 10m (i.e. same length) cable so even that was as close as possible to the same.

The charts clearly show which two days it was installed so unfortunately I had to return it.

It's nice to have a dedicated 1090 antenna for your project and this one won't disappoint. I had good coverage with my other non frequency tuned antenna.. But thought well I'll try this and if it doesn't prove any better I'll send it back.. No sending back necessary! Check it out in pictures.. The antenna out of the box, didn't even unwrap the wire and hung in my in my front closet... with alot of other RF Ham gear and I'm almost hitting into Portland. I did this to test the worst possible set up before installing it roof top.. Seems to be working fine over the past weeks with the same or better coverage seen in the screen shot.
I'm using the Airnav Green 1090 Dongle $26 with Rtl1090 and Plane Finder Client on windows 10. Benefits of Plane Finder, and some others is that they give you a Premium membership when you share your 1090 data in addition to the Paid App Free. You can also serve your own data on your port forwarding to be accessible from in or outside of your home, as seen in the screen shot of my coverage. Recommend the antenna... and actually Amazon has the Airnav antenna and Green 1090 dongle in a package combination.. Would look at that too. Enjoy
