About the Author
Born in England to an Irish mother and Swiss father, Bearnairdine Beaumont was destined to fly just like her parents and became an airline stewardess. Twenty years into her flying career she was medically retired due to workplace-related ill-health directly related to the air circulation of the airliners she flew in. Bearnairdine then emigrated from Germany to Ireland where she followed her life-long interest in naturopathy and herbal remedies, while at the same time researching and learning about the real background of her work-related health issues. Bearnairdine became specialised in chemical sensitivity, allergies and environmental health issues. An unexpected health relapse forced her to give up her successful health centre in Ireland and she now lives with her two loyal dogs in a secluded spot in the French-Swiss alpine mountain region. She offers her specialised health- and work-related services, experience and knowledge as a consultant and workshop facilitator to educate help-seeking aviators and airline passengers about the dangers they can encounter and how to lead a healthy lifestyle by avoiding known and unknown sources of toxins. Bearnairdine writes: "I wish I had the power to stop what is going on, sadly I haven't. But I have the power of words and I will use it every day to inform as many people as possible about what is going on behind closed aircraft doors and warn as many people as I can and try and save them from such horrible ill-health as I and many others have experienced."

Her following personal account is shocking and one wanders if one is reading a John Grisham novel. The author has gone through personal hell and walked a path, but not one that is to be followed, instead she has paved the way for others not to have similar experience and a easier life. This book wants to point out a big problem that no one can see and a few don't want us to see or smell. This book wants to help to get help sooner and more effective. Here, the author offers in the third part of the book, a guide to immediate self help and recommendations to restore, if possible ones health and good advise and contact points, who to turn to.
So, this is not only a story, but also a personal dramatic account and a self help guide in one. Generally, it might be the first book about one of the biggest cover ups of our time belonging into the range of cover ups, like asbestos, agent orange and kevadon.
Of course, for me Part 2 is very informative and helpful. I know I will use this section often as my own health guide.
Having come through 2-3 inflight ‘episodes’ - the first one; I fell into unconsciousness in the aisle, soon after take off. I was fortunate that there was a Cardiac Specialist onboard, who sat with me all through the night. I had no idea what had happened to me! Once we landed it took me 10 days of bed rest to recover. In that instance I was diagnosed with vertigo.
Bea has supported me, given sound advise and made many health related suggestions over many years, since I have become sensitive to many things in every day life. For this I am truly grateful.
I honour her and what she has so bravely and elegantly endured. May this book assist the many faceless others, who may not be ‘crew', but never the less, have had their lives seriously and mysteriously affected by a supposedly safe flight from A to B…
Thanks, Bea for sharing your story with so many other affected victims of aviation's darkest secret!
I hope, this book will help many others to understand their health issues and to find suitable therapy!

It is a dream of all of us to fly , travel the world and see beautiful places and if we have a high profile job we enjoy being here or there in a big city for work and a little fun afterwards, but nothing prepares us for the big awakening after being exposed to toxic air craft air while sitting comfortably in the big birds and still feeling safe. In some cases it seems to be enough to be exposed one time and the damage is forever done. Other cases had symptoms of ill health on returning home and would have never connected them to travelling on airlines to their holiday destinations. And the poisonous air hits passengers and crew alike : some only woke up in a hospital after the cabin air smelled a little like old socks.
I am a 35+year working full time airline cabin crew employee and I am now retired since three years.
I have had several "smell incidents" in my last years of working actively. And now I am in constant contact with other airline veterans and we are all watching out for those symptoms of nerve damage and toxic reactions and are alerted now thanks to Ms.Beaumont and her eye-opening report and life experience in the airline industry.
Please inform yourself in due time about the real dangers of air travelling and take precaution for those ever more often happening incidents to be a little safer on your next trip. I can only admire the braveness of the author to start this awareness in airline travellers and employees with her book to finally force the builders and buyers of aircraft to rethink their constant comment: our aircraft air is clean as an operating circus.
I highly recommend this book.
