I bought this after reading various reviews on-line on small portable projectors.

This seemed like the reasonable affordable alternative to other higher end models, as I was only buying this more out of curiosity than anything else.

When it arrived I put it together (with my Ipod Touch having the correct connections already) in a matter of seconds, its basic and easy to use, in fact I haven't even looked at the user manual yet as its that easy.

I projected it on to my wall and the picture was more than what I expected it to be, it was clear even when enlarged to its maximum potential.

I will be using this little projector for film nights in with friends, I have even gone on to buy a 16" portable projector screen which I may take camping so we can watch horror films in the forest during summer :)

The speaker isn't great but what do you expect for such a little projector, you can hook it up to some speakers and problem solved.

Conclusion is - a neat little gadget that does its job and pretty well. Don't expect to be blown away by it, just enjoy it for what it is.

I bought this as an entry level projector and that was probably a mistake - it's definitely a lightweight travel option. However within that category it's flimsy and unstable and as pointed out throughout these reviews, definitely needs a very dark environment.

On first use for me the focus ring jammed. I asked the Aiptek help desk who said try more force. At the point when I felt I'd rather return a jammed machine than one where I'd wrenched the component off I gave up. In reviews I've seen evidence of this problem occuring before.

My supplier gave an immediate refund and I got a basic Optoma machine with which I'm totally happy.

This is an Amazing little Projector. Needs more information around connection cables to assist with linking up equipment. Still have not managed to run it off my Laptop but woks fine watching movies from Playstation console or dvd recorder. Sound is quite good but there is no control over the sound from unit. You can not mute it at all. I connect it up through my hi-fi for surround sound. A good little gadget worth buying. (Project onto white paper on your wall any size upto 50")

this projector is good for late night films (NEEDS A PITCH BLACK ROOM) sound is a bit rubbish, connect the sound to a sround sound system, you cant connect this to a laptop unless your laptop supports tv out.

with a product of this type you expect to get easy connectivity to video sources. the cable supplied connects to nothing useful and to connect to most devices you need cables which are not readily available.Try getting an S video to the 3 pin connector as supplied! i ended up getting another converter box which means i ended up paying more than a more upmarket product

I had read the positive and negative reviews of this product and unpacked it with some trepidation. The first thing that struck me was how small, light and compact it was. There was enough juice in the Li-On battery for me to switch the unit on and gauge its performance.

The big problem was connecting it to my laptop. The unit comes with one three core mini jack connected to three RCA female connectors. I had opted for a bundled deal that included a number of additional cables - none of these worked with my laptop, so unless you know for sure that those cables will work, save your money.

I eventually connected the projector to a portable DVD player and was pleasantly surprised by the picture quality and clarity from such a small unit and was very soonprojecting "The Empire Strikes Back" on the side of my house! There's definitely something special about viewing a projected image.

The projector itself comes with a tiny in-built speaker which is pretty poor so you really have to add external speakers to the source player as the projector has no separate audio out. (I purchased an audio extension lead which enables me to place my external speakers closer to the projected surface).

The unit comes with a mini tripod which is bit wobbly and you'd probably be advised to swap it for something a little more sturdy. You also need to be careful with the audio/visual input. If the cable moves slightly, the picture vanishes immediately.

If you're planning to screen movies using battery power alone, you're going to have to choose your films carefully as the battery life of between 1.5 to 2.0 hours could curtial your entertainment - so no directors cut of Avatar!

it's been two weeks since i bought this item and I'm still trying to figure out what cable should i be using to connect it with my laptop, i tried VGA to S-Video / RCA Adaptor and also VGA TO 3 RCA LEAD/CABLE and still nothing.I would definately rate it higher if it came with an appropriate cable and not just an 3-in-1 AV cable. I would definately recommend you not to buy this item if you are not familiar with cables and connections etc.

What the other reviewers have said is absolutely true - it needs to be pitch-dark if you are going to make this a big size, you definitely need your own speakers, and the connection is quite difficult (and I am very, very comfortable with computer hardware!) I can see why people would give up out of frustration with connecting this thing, but I managed to figure it out after buying a VGA/video converter. Of course the connection only applies to computer connection and isn't at all an issue if you are connecting to a dvd player or game console.

All that being said, I think that if you have a very dark room, have your own speakers, and are able to get it connected. It's brilliant! However, because I doubt that will be the case for the vast majority of buyers, I can't rate it higher than a 3.
