Cinema for the pocketAiptek offers probably one of the smallest projectors in the world. The Pocket Cinema T15 is actually in the truest sense, a mini projector for your pocket. Weighing only 160 grams and the mobile phone-like dimensions of only 125mm x 59mm x 25mm, the Pocket Cinema T15 is ideal for mobile applications such as in business travel for meetings and presentations in small groups or in the private sector, for the quick slide show of images with friends to watch videos or to connect a game console.
Project video, photos, TVThe resolution of the Pocket Cinema T15 is 640 x 360 pixels in 16:9 format. The projection size from 6 inch to 50 inch (13cm to about 130cm) depends on the lighting conditions of the environment and can be adjusted by the projection distance (about 21cm to 180cm). With its LED the PocketCinema T15 reach a brightness value of 8 lumens. Through the use of modern technology, the LED lamps life expectancy achieve up to 10,000 hours. Via AV-in connection devices such as DVD player, settop boxes, camcorders, game consoles, mobile phones, iPad, iPhone or iPod can be connected. You can project any content from the connected device. Such content can be photos, videos or other content and at any time and any place under appropriate lighting conditions this content can be projected.
Mobile applicationsWith the included Li-Ion Battery of the Pico Pocket Cinema projector T15 it can be used anywhere. If the battery is fully charged, the tiny projector can operate without additional power for about 60 minutes or more. Thus, there is the possibility to playback videos, pictures or other content anywhere and anytime. And there's no issue about carrying of accessories, such as a power supply.
Complete accessoriesThe package content of the Pocket Cinema T15 is quite impressive. In the package is not only the pico projector, but also a Li-Ion battery, AC adapter, a 3-in-1 AV cable, a tripod-stand and a Quick Start Guide.
With AIPTEK a step further ...The optional available Sound Station is specially designed for the PocketCinema Series. This is a 3-1 solution, Sound Station, docking station and charging station in one device. You can also choose from two different projection angles. In the horizontal position you can project images on a wall. The vertical position can be used to project the image from the ceiling. So you can enjoy watching your movies, or pictures in the relaxed reclining position. Additionally you can get also the optional iPhone / iPod connection kit which can be used to project all you content directly from your iPad, iPhone or iPod.

This seemed like the reasonable affordable alternative to other higher end models, as I was only buying this more out of curiosity than anything else.
When it arrived I put it together (with my Ipod Touch having the correct connections already) in a matter of seconds, its basic and easy to use, in fact I haven't even looked at the user manual yet as its that easy.
I projected it on to my wall and the picture was more than what I expected it to be, it was clear even when enlarged to its maximum potential.
I will be using this little projector for film nights in with friends, I have even gone on to buy a 16" portable projector screen which I may take camping so we can watch horror films in the forest during summer :)
The speaker isn't great but what do you expect for such a little projector, you can hook it up to some speakers and problem solved.
Conclusion is - a neat little gadget that does its job and pretty well. Don't expect to be blown away by it, just enjoy it for what it is.
On first use for me the focus ring jammed. I asked the Aiptek help desk who said try more force. At the point when I felt I'd rather return a jammed machine than one where I'd wrenched the component off I gave up. In reviews I've seen evidence of this problem occuring before.
My supplier gave an immediate refund and I got a basic Optoma machine with which I'm totally happy.
The big problem was connecting it to my laptop. The unit comes with one three core mini jack connected to three RCA female connectors. I had opted for a bundled deal that included a number of additional cables - none of these worked with my laptop, so unless you know for sure that those cables will work, save your money.
I eventually connected the projector to a portable DVD player and was pleasantly surprised by the picture quality and clarity from such a small unit and was very soonprojecting "The Empire Strikes Back" on the side of my house! There's definitely something special about viewing a projected image.
The projector itself comes with a tiny in-built speaker which is pretty poor so you really have to add external speakers to the source player as the projector has no separate audio out. (I purchased an audio extension lead which enables me to place my external speakers closer to the projected surface).
The unit comes with a mini tripod which is bit wobbly and you'd probably be advised to swap it for something a little more sturdy. You also need to be careful with the audio/visual input. If the cable moves slightly, the picture vanishes immediately.
If you're planning to screen movies using battery power alone, you're going to have to choose your films carefully as the battery life of between 1.5 to 2.0 hours could curtial your entertainment - so no directors cut of Avatar!Read more ›
All that being said, I think that if you have a very dark room, have your own speakers, and are able to get it connected. It's brilliant! However, because I doubt that will be the case for the vast majority of buyers, I can't rate it higher than a 3.
