This handy personal aid enables the leg to be lifted on or off a wheelchair or bed by pulling the handle loop. It has a wired frame inside to keep the leg lifter straight and can offer greater independence and mobility to the user, perfect for those with limited mobility or flexibility and slim enough to travel with you if required.

The Leg Lifter incorporates an unwired webbing hand loop at the top to enable the user to lift one leg at a time, when the wire loop is placed over a foot.
My Leg Lifter arrived 'flat packed' in a very tall and thin square cardboad box. On removing it from the box, I had to open out the wire loop by bending it. The wire is quite thick, so a bit of force is needed.
If giving a lifter to someone with arthritic hands or poor grip, do bear this in mind, opening out the loop yourself before giving it to them may be a very good idea.
That issue aside, the lifter works well. I needed the lifter as I have very swollen ankles and weakened muscles through not being able to exercise fully due to arthritis. Raising my right leg in to a relatively high bed had become a challenge, but this has solved the issue.
The hard wire and fairly rough woven fabric aren't particularly comfortable against a bare foot, but it's only for a few seconds, if used beside the bed. You can use something like a long running vest (putting your feet in the shoulder straps) or a rolled long beach towel for the same purpose , but this is handier to have around permanently and takes up little space in storage.
For using over shoes, I used it over chunky size eight trainers and there was plenty of room. Very wide, large mens' shoes or boots might be too big, up to size 11 should be fine.
Some hand grip and arm strength is needed. It's not as much as you would think if you try a bit of self help and raise your leg as much as possible yourself. For the purposes of this review I raised my leg as a dead weight and that was done without problems.
Easy to use, virtually unbreakable and solves an issue that can make life tricky at times.
It really helps her to manoeuvre
