First off, I'm a metal drummer. I play lots of hard and fast paced songs. I've been focusing on my sound more recently, and these gloves have definitely helped aid that. I am able to hit harder and for longer periods of time as these soften the blow on the gripping points on your hands and also the shock delivered to my wrist, compared to no gloves at all. At first they seem to not allow you to grip the stick properly but that is only due to the reduced responsiveness, I am actually gripping the stick as well as I would without the gloves, if not more so because I seem to be dropping sticks less. They take a good few minutes to get used to but now, after three weeks of playing with them, I find it more difficult to play without, and the impact from the drum heads are almost amplified on the areas the most pressure is placed by my grip. At first I was worried about them becoming sweaty and unpleasant to wear, but there are 'vent' holes on the inside of your grip which seem to work as the gloves still smell new.

I haven't tried other products similar to this so I can't comment on how they compare. However my comments are based on the comparison between no gloves, and this product.

I would recommend these gloves to anyone who wants to hit harder to improve their live and studio sound, so drummers in the hard rock to metal genres.

4.0 out of 5 stars These do protect your hands. 2 Nov. 2015

I am an older drummer--about at the three year point of learning. Now doing hard practice, getting the inevitable callouses and bleeding blisters. I am using these to prevent that.

They are as thin as can be expected. I practice using MP4s with a touch screen, sometimes this is a problem. I wish they made them with the tips of the fingers off.

5.0 out of 5 stars superior product 29 Jun. 2011

Ahead drummers' gloves are the best on the market, I've used these gloves exclusively for 15 years. I've played with gloves for over 30 years...back when I had to buy left and right handed golf gloves to fight off blisters. Often had to tape the skin under the gloves to keep the blisters away. No need to do this with Ahead gloves. Have used Zildjin gloves in the past, they wear out quickly--do not recommend them. Go with these.

These gloves are great! I've owned two pairs now. They are comfortable, stop me from getting blisters, and help hold onto sticks better. The only problem that I have had was that the wrist support years from the glove and somehow in a month this.time I've managed to wear a hold in the glove on one of the fingers. If not for that I would rate a 5.
5.0 out of 5 stars Worth every penny! 2 July 2011

I bought these for my son. He and his band use my garage for their band practices. In the winter even with a heater it gets cold. They were great. Not only to keep his hands warm but for keeping him from getting blisters and for supporting his wrists.
