what nobody tells you is that this film is in german/swedish only; IT HAS NO ENGLISH AUDIO OR SUBTITLES which would be good to know before I bought it. I love Mikael Persbrandt (Beck) and really wanted to see these Agent Hamilton films. But neither 1 or 2 has subtitles.

Fine deadpan acting from MP cannot conceal almost total lack of plot and insight into the radical Islam development.
This was really a missed opportunity. What a pity Beck ended just as it was perfecting the TV policier genre.
This (nr 2 in the trilogy) is big step down from nr 1.

This cracking action filled drama was a pleasure to watch from start to finish. Hamilton is the Swedish Bond but without the gadgets, he's more of a soldierly type and the screenplay depicts a pragmatic and honest approach to violence; oh there's plenty of it but it's a bit less comic book. The script takes a "spooks" type stance on it's dealings with other intelligence agencies, it doesn't try to depict Sweden as a superpower, nor Hamilton as a superhuman. The script isn't particularly kind to the CIA and if I'm honest, the reason for the kidnapping is a bit weak. The title suffers from translation in that it isn't particularly catchy and the same can be said for a small amount of the translated dialogue, having said that, loads of this is in English and its great to see the cast members switch between different languages with ease. Speaking of cast, they do rather well and its good to see a smattering of British faces, Hamilton is ably assisted by the impossibly beautiful Seba Mubarak as his regional contact. The sets and locations are first class and the plentiful action scenes are very well staged.

I decided to give it an extra star for being as good (perhaps better) than the first movie. Since finding these movies, I've discovered a TV show, an older movie starring Peter Stormare and a series of books. One happy viewer. The DVD has nothing but the film itself and scene selections.

Like the first film, absolutely fantastic, I look forward to to the third instalment this year. Mikael Persbrandt would have been perfect to play Jack Reacher, what a missed opportunity.
