This is quite simply one of the most under rated albums of all time. There isn't a weak track here but the haunting brilliance of "A to fade in" never ceases to take my breath away.
Do yourself a favour and get this, it is a classic. I place it in my top 5 albums of all time.

I bought this record pretty soon after it came out; and on this bleak mid-winter day twenty years later I was inspired to take it for a spin once again. Adorable belong to that forgotten vanguard of bands that preceded the vulgar excesses of Britpop. Although their lack of success is puzzling and lamentable (particularly for them) it does mean that their music maintains a purity and credibility that is unsullied by what was to come - all the better for old curmudgeons like me to sit and get all nostalgic.

This is pure pop. The clean production renders every guitar chord and bass line perfectly. The urgency in Piotr's vocals is also very pronounced - great stuff. If you like their earlier release "Sunshine smile", you'll like this record. Standout tracks include; Favourite Fallen Idol, Homeboy and the epic Sistine Chapel Ceiling. Recommended.

After getting this album on cassette back in 93 when i was 20 and subsequently losing it I finally got off my lazy backside and ordered it via a marketplace seller to see if it was really as good as I remembered . And after paying a massive £25 for the c.d , i can only say - it's even better . The c.d i purchased was the american one with sunshine smile the first bonus track at the start of the album and i'll be your saint at the end . Unfortunately while the songs from Homeboy on never match up to the first 6 (sunshine smile , glorious , fallen idol , a to fade in , i know you too well & homeboy) these songs in themselves more than provide a compelling case for Adorable to be called the best Brit band of the 90's . Forget Oasis and their status quo singalong anthems , these guys were way ahead of their time . Now go buy this c.d and listen to 2 of the greatest songs of the 90's , well , of any era , A to fade in , and Homeboy , both of which are worth the price of the c.d alone - it's really impossible to rate this album highly enough .

I think that it's a shame about us that we couldn't hug THE ADORABLE in the early ninties - in there time - before they have gone. split. how can we forgive ourselves that we were hypnotized by NIRVANA SMASHING PUMPKINS etc and forgot everything about pure great english songs? now: AGAINST PERFECTION is one of the best albums of the last 20 years. don't miss that album. make him a friend of yours in summer sundays and all winter days.
