Excellent, inspired ghtful read. Don't agree with the man's politics and purchased the book to be better informed before attending his book and fires presentation at the recent Wells (Somerset UK) Festival of Literature. Unfortunately I couldn't attend but the book well worth the read. Always worthwhile getting an alternative view.....even if it only confirms one's own predujuices!!

As the storm the sequel is very good!!! It is an easy read that show mr cable is used to talking clearly to voters! It is also has the plus to find out the workings of a coalition in the uk. As a romanian for over 10 years here i know from the european continental experience that coalition are not easy unless you are angela merkel. The book helped me understand the reasoning of tuition fee, the behaviour of banks in the aftermath of the crisis the lack of supervision has helped create. I also came closer to understand why the liberals lost and how tricky it is, as mr cable put it before joining the government, to deal with "an offer too good to refuse". I hope i understand how powerful the pm in waiting osborne is and why. It would be good for these 2 books of mr cable to be translated as it helps a lot to grasp the Brits and British politics.

Excellent - understood it all except one chapter, so its readable - also it gives, through aside's a better insight into the Coalition than most tomes because it shows up the lightweight Quad. This was the problem with the Coalition as structured, Lib Dems were never able to convert the work they did do into acceptance of value at the polls. They would surely have been better targeting two high profile Ministries where they could visibly achieve success? The book's format makes it a bit repetitive. Comments are mostly clear and show a trail through from the Storm to where we are now! It shows how badly we now miss his intellectual rigour in Govt.

This book will be salutary reading for those who have convinced themselves that the recent growth of the UK economy heralds an inevitable return to long term prosperity. Vince Cable makes a careful examination of many of the current trends in the economy and suggests that some dangerous tendencies are once again emerging. Unlike Cassandra, however, he does propose ways in which the rocks of disaster and 'secular stagnation'. The book is however not without its negative points. Vince Cable's comments on the work which he did in Government is an apologia rather than an analysis. None the less the book is well worth reading.

Vince Cable is the politician the public trusts on all things to do with the economy. This is an excellent book setting out his route map for the future of the UK economy. Easy to read even for the non-experts like me, and very informative

I did not like this, boring, but......
I got this Hardback from the Library. Many had borrowed it but no one had read much of it -it was like new.
I was about to drop it to the floor when I noticed the top corner spine had a big dent in it. Someone had obviously said "F*** this" and thrown the book across the room! A wonderful book anecdote.
