If you ar traveling through Africa by road or by public transport,do not leave home for Africa without this book, it will save you time, money, hastle etc and will ensure you stay one step ahead.
The country-by-country guides all contain the essential info, in greater length and with greater accuracy than some full guides.
the introductory chapter dealing with preparing a vehicle is worth buying the book for on its own. An absolute bible which saved us a hell of a lot of time! Thankyou Bradt!
The guide begins with a complete rundown of what you will need and what you wont need, what works and what doesnt, where to go and where to stay clear and so on.
The individual run-downs of each country contain exactly what you need to know, from fuel prices to road conditions and distances. As with all Bradt guides the recomendations for hotels are the most up-to-date you will find.
Very good, very detailed, an essential travel companion.
Seriously, you will not find a better guide. The old edition of this book was also good, but this revised edition is more in depth and will keep you one step ahead of the game on your travels.
This guide never shirks from supplying mountaisn of information, which is exactly what you need when planning an overland trip.
On my trip from Cairo to Cape Town this book became as indispensible as the spare wheel on the Landy. Do not leave home without it!!!!!!
