On a very practical note the book is well laid out, is not heavy and the font is very readable
I am not a mainstream Protestant and I share in the Catholic scepticism of pedantry and blind fundamentalism that seems to be the backlash to the burgeoning secularism that is decimating the church in Europe. This is a commentary on the Bible entirely written by Born-again Christians in Africa and it is surprisingly relevant to European Christians, and notwithstanding some criticism from the Catholic Church in Africa, I do not feel any Christian who is truly seeking to understand and apply the teaching of Holy Scripture in their lives should ignore it.
Go on.. buy a copy and surprise yourself, it isn't expensive.
I would love more works from different global perspectives, and more marrying works combining those perspectives, all based on reading the text initially from its own cultural settings, then seeing how our own approximates. I would love each section of the ABC to be peer reviewed and improved by its own contributors, aiming as the KJV folk did to make a good version better. If you wish a good one volume commentary, get this one, or perhaps IVP's more Eurocentric `New Bible Commentary'. If you can budget for both, get both.
