Biker/MC books have seen an explosion in popularity over recent years with an insatiable market devouring everything in its path be it the Good, the Bad, the Ugly, the mediocre or the downright ridiculous. With more quantity than quality, even though I love MC books, far too rarely do I find the exceptional, special or even just bloody good in this hugely overpopulated market. I'm a fickle, fussy bitch and don't deny it but I need a storyline, character development, emotion, and I want it all real, gritty and hot, not juvenile and repetitive with no depth, range or world building. My go to authors are Madeline Sheehan, Joanna Wylde and Nicole Jacquelyn, for a softer style I adored Kristen Ashley's 'Motorcycle Man' and have enjoyed many of Jamie Begley's. My point? Well, a review is just an opinion, nothing more nothing less and we all have different opinions especially with MC books, so if you like my type of choices that I have enjoyed then I highly recommend that you give River Savage a try - in my opinion this is a quality one. I read 'Incandescent' a few days ago, what a promising debut that I should have given a chance earlier, then I read 'Affliction' and the growth in her writing, the emotion delivered means I will be stalking River Savage for the next instalment because she is going to be one to watch.....

Three little words are all it takes to rip his world apart. Lost in his own affliction, Sy has been living in a darkness that he doesn't ever want to let go of.

Until she arrives and shines her light so bright that nothing else mattered.

She was only in it for the chase, for the thrill of capturing the unattainable.
But what happens when her world shatters around her, spiraling her into the darkness beside him?

This is the second book in the Knights Rebels MC series and takes place concurrent with the first book, Incandescent, only this time it is Sy and Holly’s story. In Incandescent the reader was given tiny glimpses of something between Sy and Holly and finally we get to uncover what was happening between them.

Sy is dark and mysterious, a man of few words but to his brothers in the Knights Rebel MC he is a rock and always there for them. They know he holds hidden secrets that he has never divulged and it is a darkness too soul searing for Sy to relive. But then Holly comes to the clubhouse with her best friend Kadence who is with the Pres – Nix. Little by little this firecracker gets under his skin, with her light and sassiness, he finds himself watching her but not allowing himself to get any closer, that is until she pushes him too far and he drops his guard once. But that one time was all it took and a chink in his armour was finally cut.

Holly tries to fight her attraction to Sy, with his moody outlook and his surly stance, but the guy is off the charts hot and she finds him a challenge. But then something horrific happens that nearly ends everything for Holly and since then Sy’s feelings, which he still tries to hide are ultimately irreversible.

Sy was an instant panty dropping swoon for me. I love the dark and mysterious ones and he definitely fits that mould but with oh so much more. What an absolute alpha-licious, tatted and muscle bound hottie he is! The chemistry build up was unbelievably scorching and the lust just oozed off the kindle.

Holly is a strong sassy mouth woman we would all love to be friends with. The comic one-liners that came out of her mouth had me laughing my beam end off at. But it wasn’t all lightness and fun, oh no not at all.

Affliction is the second book in the Knights Rebels MC series and follows Holly and Sy who we meet in the first book Incandescent. Holly is fun, flirty, confident and Kadence's bestfriend. Sy is a mystery, one of the newest brothers of the Knights Rebels, with a past that not a single person here knows about. Since the first time Holly bounces into Sy's life, there is an attraction with both. It's a push and pull relationship with these two. They push eachother to the edge, know exactly what buttons to press.

Sy is broody, mysterious and the silent type. Love him already? Yep. And a tatted, tattoo artist. Helloooo. Holly is a ball of energy and personality oozes from her. She could always hold her own, but in this one, my heart broke for her so much. Kadence and Holly went through a traumatic experience together in Incandescent but it's the aftermath of that that knocks Holly down and near enough breaks her. This also effects Sy, causing his past to clash with his present.

Sy is the only one that can truly get through to Holly, not even Kadence can.In my opinion Holly was the light to these story's, she was a ball of energy and is the kind of person everyone needs as a friend, will They have a long road ahead of them with bumps along the way. Sy stops at nothing to pull Holly out of the darkness, pulling himself out of his own darkness, being Holly's light and healing both of them in the process.
Sy has a past that nobody knows about, we learn a little about it from the start but his story unravels bit by bit throughout the book then we get to understand Sy and connect with him on so many levels we hadn't before.

From the prologue we are pulled in, our emotions being gripped. River really done this beautifully, evil genius that she is.
