Oh my god what an extrodinary album.I must confess that i heard this before hearing anything else by the band.Right from the first song(crimson rider)the double bass drum and fantastic guitar riffs just take your breath away and don't come back until the end of the album. This is the type of european metal album that has never been made before. The quality of song and production is amazing. This band deserve some serious air time on either on radio of maybe kerrang tv.I have listened to euro metal bands for around 20 or so years and even including such greats as helloween and bonfire this is definately the greatest metal band from europe ever.PLEASE JUST BUY THIS FANTASIC ALBUM.

What a fantastic album, this has to be one of the all time best metal/rock albums of all time. Jorne Lande's vocals are superb and the guys in masterplan are on the top of their game.
It is hard to find an album as good as this anywhere ....
If Metallica produced an album half as good as this it would have probably sold 20million ....
Masterplan, definately a supergroup for the new millenium

This album is amazing; Jorn Lande is quite simply the greatest singer I have ever heard and this album is his showcase. Every song is impressive, but "Black in the Burn" and "Crimson Rider" are epic slabs of melodic metal that will still sound great years from now. One thing is for sure - show me a band that can write good songs, play well and still don't overindulge and I'll just ignore you and listen to this album.

Aeronautics is a fantastic album and my second favourite Masterplan album. It's quite a deviation from my favourite though - their first album, the self-titled 'Masterplan'. A reviewer I read before buying the album said that he thought Jorn Lande had had a very big part in the writing of the album and, considering the direction change from their first album, I'd agree - his tastes aren't really power metal which is what we're expecting here. Despite this, I listened to the album a few times and soon became hooked. Maybe not power metal throughout but some really strong tracks and very listenable.

Jorn Lande is, as usual, on top form with his vocals but my main interest in this group is the lead guitarist and founder of Masterplan, Roland Grapow. While he is on form on this album I don't think he has put any guitar solos out which match those on the first album. The album, however, is very varied and interesting throughout. The only quibble I have with it is that there are 2 ballads - a few more than most of us metal fans would like to see on one album. They are both good but I'd have preferred just the one.

Standout tracks are: 'I'm Not Afraid' - superb intro and solo, 'Headbangers' Ballroom' - this chugs along happily and puts you in a superb mood - a great rocker. The very best track on the album however is the final track 'Black in the Burn' - at 9 minutes 44 seconds, a proper epic. This track starts off fairly ordinarily but soon takes you on a wild journey with some great thrashy solo sections of several minutes. Roland is on absolutely top form on this track. Musically the track is excellent the whole way through and gets better with every minute. As a commenter on YouTube said about it, "what a journey" - says it all!

I love Jorn and bought this album on the back of hearing Masterplan's Time To Be King. Stuck it on while decorating and was instantly blown away. The guitars, the voice, the drumming - oh my goodness the drumming is out of this world. Why Masterplan haven't sold 10 million albums is a mystery and a travesty. This album should be compulsory listening!

Can't stop playing this one. Heard about it on melodicrock.com, it was given 99% score and it certainly deserves it. This is modern, fresh, good sounding and full of melody - yet it rocks. Jorn Lande again sounds fantastic - strong vocals, sung will passion.
If you liked ARK, you will like this. The guy sounds like David Coverdale some say, but Masterplan is how a modern David Coverdale led outfit should sound.
Best money you'll spend this year.

Masterplan's second CD which continues the vibrant and alternative take on power metal is this very aptly titled CD:- Aeronautics. The start of the CD is strong with a classic opener in the form of "Crimson Rider", and from there it takes abit of a downhill run with the 'just' ok:- "Back from my life" and the rather standarised cheesiness of "Wounds" at track 3. Fortunately, "I am not afraid" recovers some of the excellent quality of form demonstrated at the start, to lead us into the heavy riff-fest of "Headbangers ball".

"After this war" is a moment of solace, as Masterplan deliver an emotional and passionate ballad:- guided by Jorn's highly commanding and versatile voice. "Into the arena" is another excellent song which is propelled again by Jorn's soaring vocals, while "dark from the dying" I could easily consider another key highlight from this 10 track selection. "Falling Sparrow" is a memorable and catchy entity to lead into the near 10 minute masterpiece of "Black in the burn" which harks back to some of the work Jorn did with Beyond Twilight.

I beleive Aeronautics is probably one of the best albums yet from Masterplan. It is certainly a different brand of typical power metal sameness so often seen in the genre, which is graced by an untouchable vocal from Jorn; an addition of which is likely worth a star rating alone. So this is likely a better than competant power metal album with a range of catchy melodies/choruses underpinning it. One or two here fail to hit the mark, but overall this is a very enjoyable album and one I'd be happy to return to again. *The special edition digibook contains the fairly average bonus track:- "Treasure World" with a extra addition of a multimedia section included.,
