Format: Paperback
An excellent study of a key military action, made in the face of quitedifficult problems of source materials and landscape: patient, thoroughand persuasive. I was also convinced, against expectation, by Mr Johnson'sclaim for the pivotal importance of the action in the history of the CivilWar.
Ronald Hutton (Professor of British History, University ofBristol).

Format: Paperback Verified Purchase
One of the best books on the period I have read in years.
A serious and detailed account of a little known - but crucial engagement and a convincing argument about the importance of the battle in the wider history of the Civil War.
It would justify a second edition, with more/better illustrations and a hardback version.
