HASH(0x9f51c39c) out of 5 stars practical and fun 8 July 2013
By joanna templeton - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
These days when everyone is fighting for a job, i think this book is fantastic. Like taking a tour inside an ad agency, with plenty of inside jokes, helpful tips, and attitude. I actually sent this book to two college juniors today alone -- students who are calling me asking for advice .....if you want to step inside advertising, start here.

A fairly basic book, not very detailed, so good for a quick read. Some insightful things, mostly common sense info. Does not dive much or at all into types of jobs and how to go about different jobs. Seems to be promoting Y&R more.

HASH(0x9f51c558) out of 5 stars Fundamentally useless 10 April 2014
By Tori - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
This book has little more actual content than a pamphlet (it seemed like every other page was taken up by a word cloud) on basic career strategy and resume formats. Certainly has little if any practical advice on the actual advertising field, other than as a shameless plug for Y&R. Incredibly basic and general, and filled with little anecdotes that are little more than page-fillers. Overall, the fact that this is $20 is laughable.

HASH(0x9f51c6a8) out of 5 stars Loved this book! 12 May 2013
By Robin Straus - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
A remarkably readable and sensible work about entering the advertising field after college graduation. Actually has lots of practical information for any liberal arts college grad looking for their "first" step into the workplace. Visually pleasing, informative and fun to read. Highly recommended!

HASH(0x9f51cb10) out of 5 stars A Must Read for ALL College Grads Regardless of Major or Career 25 May 2013
By JPS - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Paperback
I just finished reading Belle Frank's "The Advertising On-Ramp", and boy do I wish this book existed when I graduated from college seven years ago!

The lessons and insights provided here are universal and do not only apply to new grads searching for their first jobs in advertising. Whether you studied biology and intend to work in biotech, or you juggled art history and a few languages (like me) and don't quite know what you want to do professionally, this book is for you.

Belle's emphasis on finding one's "path" ("the series of steps you take in your career") in addition to one's "voice" ("what you need if you are to find the career that is satisfying to you") is the key to a building a satisfying and successful career. All too often, we focus too much on our navigating our "path" and neglect our "voice". Once you read this book, you will be armed with a multifaceted toolkit that will bring you closer to finding both of these components.

Thank you, Belle, for illuminating the paths and empowering the voices of all future college grads.
