I bought this to show my grandkids what I used to watch on tv when I was their age, brilliant, the memories just flooded back, all of a sudden I was 12 again, I haven't given it to them yet, I don't think I will to be honest.

I agree about the logo BUT I watched Champion when I was a tiny little child in the 1950's on the old 405 line televisions. The logo did not deter from the enjoyment for me as I blocked it out but I do appreciate it is very annoying. I was so overcome with hearing the tune again and seeing Ricky North who I loved from about the age of 3 until 12 yrs that I could do nothing but thrill to the viewing of it all. Champion is the most gorgeous animal, tennesse walking horse I believe and it brought back such powerful memories I was alternating between shouting 'Go on Champ' and weeping profusely into my bag of crisps. To me, it was worth buying. Yes, I would buy it again without the logo but quality was certainly not an issue. It gave it atmosphere for me. If you are a memory person then you will love this, warts and all. There is nothing to replace seeing that wonderful horse rearing and then galloping down the mountain path. Oh joy, oh rapture. My Champion.

I was born in 1967 and watched this show as a kid during the late 1970's. Having just bought it I am now enjoying every minute.....yes the quality is a little poor (it is BW and made in circa 1950 for goodness sake) and the 'encore' wording which appears from time to time is less than ideal but do not hesitate to purchase this set if you want to re-live some childhood memories at modest cost. Sit back relax and enjoy......yes things have moved on quality wise but there is nothing like re-kindling memories from a time of innocence. Sorry typing this with a glass of tizer and a hula hoop on each finger......only joking. Don't let the negatives prevent purchase.

This is a great buy. Took me right back to my childhood. Yes,it is grainy at times but what would you expect from something filmed in the fifty's ! As for the logo appearing on screen, its no worse than anything you would get on-screen today. Great value for money and a must for any fan!

No need to bother with this appalling quality title anymore . The reason the quality is so bad is because its basically a bootleg mae from US Public Domain recordings from tv - you can even see the sides of the monitor on some episodes. One review excuses the poor quality by saying it was made in the 50's . So what ? Anything shot on film can be as good today as it was when it was made. Champion was shot on 16mm film rather than cinema quality 35mm but now a US version is available and transferred from new HD masters created from archival prints. So don't waste money on this junk from a label who's catalogue is 100% Public Domain rubbish .

By pure chance, I happened on the "Champ" page and read the reviews and felt I needed to add mine. I bought my copy about 4/5 years ago from HMV. It is Elstree Hill, a company I tend to think twice about, but apart from the gross misnomer that this is the complete series (it isn't as others have mentioned,) it's really good stuff. NO logo (so how come it is on those reviewed here.?) MY prints aren't mint but they are perfectly watchable, and, moreover, the whole thing is fun! Autry's company churned out some darn good western series and this is one. Seek out the earlier release from 2005, because it is worth it. (Some weeks later...I have made a mistake, and it's quite important that I come clean. I re watched some of these eps and The Logo IS on but not all the time and to me it doesn't distract from my pleasure once you know it comes and goes, and is really, to me ,acceptable, tho, of course, better if it wasn't there at all. Sorry for the error in first notes above!! AW 24 Oct 2010)

"The Adventures of Champion". Although the words complete series appears on this set, there are three episodes missing ?made up by the Gene Autry film? For information the episiodes are "The Golden Hoax","Real Unfriendly Ghost" and "Challenge of the West". Personally I think the quality is good for its age, but agree about the logo. At least they haven't tampered with the music and theme song like someone has with the TV series "Adventures of Rin Tin Tin"!

my brother bought this for his daughter and on the whole it is good for it's age, the quality isn't too bad but what spoiled it was the picture kept freezing and starting again, it is only for a second but it spoils watching it. i don't know if this is on all dvds'bought or only on this one, it would be interesting to see if any one else has this same problem.having said that, it is good to see this series again, why is nothing like this on tv these days.
