This album is not quite one of the greatest of all time but for when considering a ratio of how good the music is and how well known the band are it is quite possibly the best I have ever heard. I originally purchased the album just because it had a nice looking case and i had a couple of quid left over. When I got home I listened to the other 4 albums I'd purchased that day before going to bed. The adventure album sat there colleting dust for a good few weeks before i remembered it even existed and decided to give it an airing. To my delight I discovered that the album is absolutely sensational. 'Love Song' is one of the greatest songs ever recorded and there isn't a bad song on the album. The only disappointment will come when you listen to love song and the rest of the album doesn't come close to it's unbelievably high standards. If you like anything from chillout to hard rock you can enjoy this easy-listening album with some sensationally heavy chords.

Furslide are only the second band whose CD I've bought after having heard them play live(Buckshot Le Fonque being the only other). I was totally bowled over by the passion, energy, and excellent scope and variety of their material. The CD itself has been one of the very few that I would class as a 'must have'. The studio environment of the recording hasn't dampened the character and vibrance of the music which can happen so often with other bands. The production is excellent and the soul and feel of each song is distinct showing the quality of the each band members ability. The late Jeff Buckley is the only other artist in recent years who has struck me in the same way. Don't miss out on a great experience. Buy as many copies of 'Adventure' as you can afford.

i first heard this band on the buffy album and i thought they were great. they had a really unique sound that i really liked. when i recieved the album i was not dissapointed but i wasnt too impressed with it though.
the whole album was very same old same old, but the lyrics do deal with some tough situations. the music, though very dipressing is quite relaxing and is good to listen to in the background.

I bought this not long after it came out, late 1998 and am not suprised that you can pick it up for next to nothing as the group lasted little more than a year after its release. It falls somwhere between 'alt' and heavy/hard rock, main focal point being singer and guitarist Jennifer Turner. The production is very good being fairly organic and as you would expect from a three piece there is space for all the instuments to breath. I love the string arrangements on Hawaii and Faith both adding depth and demonstrating an intelligence at work on this album , Love Song has got timeless classic written all over it, in fact i wouldn't be suprised if this album turned up in Mojo as a buried treasure at some point.
If you want a comparison then think Blues rocker Philip Sayce making an album with Blondie.

This is an astounding album, but it will sink or swin dependant upon how you like its presentation, production, and the lead vocalist's pipes.

The songs are just great, the single "Over My Head" a great indicator of what the album has to offer.

The exception (that proves the above rule!) is the obtusely-titled "Hawaii" - it should obviously have been called Adventure, like the album. It's an astonishing gem, lushly arranged with real strings and a kooky but compelling lead vocal. I love it!

The rest of the album is rockier and edgier, with some nice dissonant chords and ideas thrown into the mix. I love the bonus track "The Cleaning Lady", too, which is partially obscured by the sound of the vacuum being switched on, and scores a nice big hit for anyone who still has a chip on their shoulder about not taking further education further!

Signed to Nellee Hooper's Meanwhile label, this was never going to be straightforward fare, but the bells and whistles of production are used sparingly, and are tasteful and imaginative.

So, what happened? Where are they now?

Great stuff.
