This is a first rate read for anyone interested in aircraft and WWII. The technical details are well covered and the photographs are excellent. I'd normally say that an 'authorised' biography would be far too favourable to the subject, but in this case I think Galland himself adds details that probably wouldn't have been uncovered elsewhere. An excellent read.

I had already read this book, but needed my own copy for reference.
This is Galland in full, warts and all! He liked the ladies, and they liked him, sometimes to his cost!
For anyone interested in any military aspect of WW2 from a German point of view, whether in the Luftwaffe or not - or in the power struggles within the leadership of the Third Reich - or the shambles over military supply - or the experiences of a colourful and brave man - this is essential reading!
And, as always, splendid service by yourselves!

Well written and informative - a little dry in places - but it's bound to be to get all of the detail necessary into the book. Fascinating to read of how it was on the other side of the fence, although not everybody's star rose as high and as quickly as Galland's.

Highly recommended if you have an interest in WWII fighter operations, tactics and characters. Steer clear if you don't, you'll find it boring.

I bought this book as Dolfo Galland portrays the human face of the Luftwaffe to me. A great read and many small details about his wartime experiences, and what he had to go through ultimately to fail when the whole rotton ediface of the Third Reich crumbled.
