About the Author

My name is Edmund Kelly and I just recently published my first book titled, Addiction & Pestilence, which is a fast-paced, gritty, post-apocalyptic thriller. Addiction & Pestilence is the first book in my Slaying Dragons: A Journey Through Hell series. The series is a modern retelling of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. Slaying dragons is an old term which means to overcome evil or defeat the devil. It also has a new meaning in our time, which means to overcome addiction to drugs or alcohol. Addiction & Pestilence deals with the wrath of the first horsemen who brings pestilence (plague) and each character has some form of addiction they must overcome as they try and survive the apocalypse. Please feel free to visit me at EdmundKelly.com or email me at lovetowrite@edmundkelly.com. I live in Massachusetts with my wife and daughters.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fast paced and entertaining. 18 Jan. 2017

A very entertaining story overall. It's an interesting take on the apocalyptic genre that has been popping up more and more. The added biblical references of the four horsemen and the use of otherwordly biological warfare adds a mysterious and interesting twist to the plot.

The author also takes his time developing all of the characters and making you either love or hate them (depending on your take of each of their situations). Though you are left wondering about the fate of a few of them towards the end of this volume. The cliffhangers leave you wanting more, can't wait for the next addition to the series.

I was going to give 4 stars due to some literary redundancies in the kindle copy I purchased, but I have since then been notified that these errors have been rectified by the author, so 5 stars all the way!

Overall a very good book for a first time, self published author. Will recommend to anyone who likes "end of the days" stories with a little more adult problems added to the mix, rather than (the way overdone) teenage love stories.
5.0 out of 5 stars Up and coming author worthy of your reading time!!! 22 Dec. 2016

I was very impressed with the unique and easy to read writing style of this author. His intelligent and descriptive manner of writing not only made me feel like I was right there in the thick of things, but he also shone a spotlight on just how easily things can go from bad to worse in today's real world.
One of the things I liked best about this book was the attitude of the main character. A refreshing no-nonsense, tell it like it is personality that this world could use more of. The characters were thoughtfully developed and I really enjoyed the interaction between them.
I'm looking forward to reading the future books in this series. And I really believe this author will become a successful, well known author years from now if he keeps at it!
5.0 out of 5 stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Thriller! Like watching a movie! 14 Mar. 2017

This apocalyptic thriller grabbed me from page 1 and never let go. An incredible debut novel from a gifted and talented author. Ed Kelly graphically paints scene after scene with gritty and natural dialogue and a smooth narrative that almost made me forget that I was reading- it felt like I was watching a movie. Fantastic and Action-packed, I highly recommend Addiction & Pestilence and give it 5 Giant Stars! Can't wait for the next installment!

This is a fast paced and exciting book. Ed has created characters with gritty, real experiences guiding them through an end times scenerio. I am looking forward to book two and the continuation of Drew's journey.
