I have had other watches from YAMMY in the past and I find their app is one of the best ones out there. it's very easy to use and is simple to connect with your phone. One thing I have recently noticed though is that the iOS app is much more stable than the android one.
The push notifications are handy, letting me now when I get Facebook mentions, texts, and IM. The camera remote works great and is very helpful when using my iphone with a telescopic lens as it allows me to take still pictures without touching the phone and losing focus.
Personally, I would recommend paying the extra couple of pounds and getting the YAMMY HR Version of this watch
App installation with your chosen device is easy using the QR code in the instructions. I wondered about using it with my phone, which has a small screen, but preferred something larger. I decided to show the QR code to my Kindle Fire HDX 8.9" which has a QR reading app. I was quickly directed to the app site. As the Kindle OS is basically Android with a twist, some apps work, some don't. At the first few attempts the site did not respond. Trying a few hours later, it responded without issue. Well, one issue that I overcame. The site is Chinese, with an English option right at the bottom. Yes you have to scroll all the way down to discover this! After sorting the language barrier, app downloading was relatively easy.
The Kindle warned about the many (in my view unnecessary) permissions the app required. I accepted them and have not (yet) come to any harm. You need to enter age/weight/height details to the app. Pairing to the Kindle was interesting. The devices seemed to take a long time to recognise each other and get on. Much longer than many other devices I have used. However, since pairing I have not seen any issues. Communication is easy.
After pairing, the bracelet showed the correct (Kindle) time and started operating. I have only had a couple of days of operation so far. However, the bracelet seems to be reporting correct information the Kindle for most of the time.
I have confused the heart rate monitor more than once. While using a warm air hand dryer, the vigorous hand movements reported up to 100bpm for a few seconds before returning to rest rate. I never realised drying your hands was so good for excersize! Also removing/fitting the device seems to give odd results. The steps/distance has also been confused. I have apparently walked a couple of KM while driving the car for 50KM with the bracelet on the seat, not on my wrist.
Battery life is looking like probably 5-7 days. But you can recharge anytime and it connects to the charge clip in seconds. Given that the device is not waterproof, there will be plenty of opportunities to recharge.
I have not tried any of the phone interaction features. After having a go with the (big screen) Kindle and getting to know the device, I will pair it with a phone and try out more of the features.
More will follow....
The device size should fit most adult wrists and it is unobtrusive.
The app is a little limited and can make Google fit have a bit of a hissy fit when you link the apps (8,000cal burned in one day, I don't think so!), but overall for good value for money if you just want a pedometer and heart rate tracker!
