Review

"Active Baby" provides a wealth of very informative and user-friendly information about the young children 's physical development. It fills a void for daily parenting skills and makes a great gift for every new parent!
Rhonda Clements, EdD, former President of the American Association for the Child 's Right to Play, Professor of Physical Education at Manhattanville College, and author of nine books on children 's games and play activities

Charmingly illustrated and easy to read, this delightful book will be a boon to busy parents looking for fun ways to support their child 's development.
Linda Acredolo, PhD, co-author of "Baby Minds: Brain-Building Games Your Baby Will Love"

Rarely have I been presented with a book so user-friendly, complete, and profound in its breadth of understanding of early childhood development as Margaret Sass 's book. It is truly a must-have book for all new parents, grandparents, and people working with preschool children. Margaret has come to the heart of what is most essential for our precious children today rich sensory experiences, movement, play, and human connection. Margaret has given the world a wonderful gift.
Carla Hannaford, PhD, biologist, educator, and author of "Smart Moves: Why Learning Is Not All in Your Head" and other movement-based learning titles

Sass 's focus is on fun, but she also provides parents with an informative manual that outlines the crucial connections between movement and the health and development of body and brain.

A little bit repetitive but does give some good ideas about different movements to accommodate in to your child's day. This is our first child so I've found it useful as I'm not the most creative. Not a substitute for getting them out in to the great outdoors as I do everyday, but we've made up our own songs for some of the movements and we both enjoy it. My little one particularly likes the 'Jack and Jill' idea that's in the book early on. We do most of this while he lies on his play mat.

This book is rubbish, if there were zero stars available I would give it that. The book has nothing in it that is not common sense. And cannot be classed as games. For example book advises that you place baby on his back!!!
Some of the games are in my opinion dangerous. For example the book suggests that a toddler be taught space awareness by climbing under chairs. It also recomends that you teach a toddler to climb a ladder lying on a floor!! There is some science provided by the author but it feels as if the science is provided as a means of calling the activities brain games, when in reality they are activities that all parents will surely do such as swaying and dancing with baby! (Apparently this helps the vestibular stimulation. Aka inner ear stimulation)

I also purchased dr Miriam Stoppard which was cheaper to purchase but higher quality I. Every way, games are just that games backed by good explanations and in colour as opposed to this book which is in black and white with poor drawings.

Miriam Stoppard has photos of babies doing the activities which my four month old loves looking at.

I shall be returning this irresponsible. Poor and expensive product.
