First thing to state is this bike is built to a price, so components will be sourced to that price. So do not expect high quality components. I bought this bike as one I could upgrade. The bike required assemble on delivery, the instruction manual looks good, but in reality is not that helpful when it comes to important things like how to set up the 6 speed cassette. Youtube videos are an excellent source of information. I was not expecting the bike to perfect and would require some adjustments. However, I was surprised how many problems there were. The front wheel was significantly out of true and I had to spend some time to straightening it. This is becoming a regular problem on new bikes these days. The rear wheel was slightly out of true, but only required minor adjustments. The front vee brakes had been assembled wrong and I had to rebuild them, not a major task. The main problem is the front derailleur which can not be set correctly for all the chain sets and cassette. I could set it for the smallest and largest chainset to use all the gears but this meant the middle chain set could only use three of the six gears. The problem is the selector on the front derailleur is not large enough. I fitted a genuine Shimano front derailleur sourced for £9 and everything now works correctly. The tyres are basic, and I would not expect a long life from them. If you want to use this bike off road on some of the dedicated cycle tracks as well on on road, then I would strongly suggest upgrading the tyres. So you may ask why did I give this 4 stars and not return the bike? Well a good quality hybrid bike will set you back £500+. I changed the tyres, fitted a new derailleur, spent time setting the bike up correctly and now have a very good quality bike for under £200.Read more ›
