Amazon.co.uk Review

Marbles are exclusively controlled by the stylus in this fascinating title that satisfies even the strongest puzzle addiction. Marbles roll relentlessly down a twisted track toward you. Stop them by launching new marbles with your stylus. When three or more like-coloured marbles match up, they vanish. Tons of power-ups, multiple tracks, and a great multiplayer mode make Actionloop a must for puzzle/action fans! Single-player items boost your score, slow down or stop time, or reverse the course of the marbles.

Versus weaponry includes Ion Clouds (smoke screens you'll have to blow away via the DS mic), Recoils (which block marbles), Black Holes (which suck up launched marbles), Viruses (which deflect marbles), and Gravitons (which alter the path of launched marbles). A seemingly endless array of fresh twists will keep drawing you back to single-player Actionloop. Switches, tracks that pass over or below each other, and moving barriers that deflect marbles will keep you flicking marbles for hours.

I purchased the American version of this game, called Magnetica, in the Summer to play on a DS. I am a 42-year old mum who is pretty useless on computer games and the like, but this one just caught my eye. I have to say that I was totally addicted. It is the only game I have ever finished! My husband got fed up with me playing this game!!! You have to flick the different coloured marbles with the pen and if three or more colours are the same, they disappear. If you're too slow, the marbles back up and end up going down a big black hole and you lose. There are at least 55 levels to this game - I can't remember the exact number now, or you can play against an opponent in a challenge. It is very addictive, so beware! If you have 20 minutes to spare in a school car park or waiting room, then this is the game you want to have with you in your handbag! You won't mind waiting around any more for the kids to come out of school - you may even park up early, ha ha!!!! If you're a brilliant gamer, you may not get so much enjoyment out of this one, but if you're like me, a novice, who just wants a bit of fun on the DS now and then, then you won't be disappointed with this title. Go ahead and order it, and treat yourself! I didn't have a rumble pak with mine, so this will be even better. I might have to buy myself another copy!!!

Actionloop is the newest addition to the Touch Generations series, and while the other review on here deals with the specific "Touch Generations" approach to the game, I thought I'd give my two cents and provide you with another view.

While I'm not strictly a massive fan of the puzzle game genre, and tend to gravitate towards adventure games and the like this game really caught my eye, mostly because it's very similar to the Puzzloop clone, Zuma, which is highly entertaining. The main thing that distinguishes Actionloop from other games of this formula is the excellently integrated touch screen controls. While they take a little while to get used to, it becomes difficult to think of using a standard D-pad type set-up to play the game with. Gems can be flicked across the screen with relative ease, making the game somewhat easier to control. The developer, Mitchell, realised this and gave the game a faster pace than its successors, making the game even more fast paced than before.

Another great thing about this game is the variety of modes. There's challenge mode, which is based in one arena, with the goal being to keep the game going as it gets harder and harder and get to level 99. Quest mode is my favourite mode; this is a level based mode with 60 levels, each taking place in variations of a set of arenas with the aim being to clear all the gemstones. This may sound easy, but the game throws obstacles into the equation, like smoke clouds that can be cleared by blowing onto the DS's microphone. The last single player mode is Checkmate, which is a puzzle mode (also with 60 levels) in which you have a certain amount of specifically coloured Gemstones to use to destroy cleverly placed gemstones.

This is an easy game to play but is totally addictive. As you play look up occasionally and watch your life go by. It will take you over. Some of the levels are easy(ish) and others hard, but nothing compares with the total satisfaction of getting the last of those little balls into the hole and opening up another level, (despite the fact that it could take you hours to do). This game tests reactions, skill with the stylus and total refusal to give in and do something else. Enjoy!

I love this game!

Having played several variation of the game on my mac when I saw this in the shop there was no hesitation. It's so easy to get into and you'll be caught up in it within seconds.. This is the best of all the versions I've played and the addition of other extra objects (bonuses/boosters) make this game even more engaging. You don't want to give up and when you do you quickly restart the level to try better your last score.

This is such a good game on the go, one that you can just pick up say travelling on the bus or waiting.. Touch Screen capabilities have made this a must have! Don't hesitate go buy! :P

On the say so of the previous 42yr old Mum I agree wholeheartedly that this is a great game. I am 43yrs today and have been playing against my 8yr old son for hours - it is great fun. I cannot play any other games to save my life but now have a way to share a part of my son's gaming world.

I was keen to play this game after reading good reviews of it. Needless to say I was more than a little disappointed. I found it really boring, and lacking that all important "just one more go" factor of a good puzzler eg. Tetris, Zoo Keeper.

The fact that the main mode always opens with only blue &red balls make me feel like I'm playing exactly the same combination over &over again. The best mode was the Checkmate one, but not enough to make me persevere. I can't wait to trade this in against something better. I felt like I was wasting my time playing it :(
