This is a rare, hard to find CD that is different from Smallcreeps day. Mike does the singing, which is surprisingly good. Essential if you are a Rutherford fan. Sounds very 80's but it will grow on you if you like Genesis. Sounds a little harsh at times and not as good as Smallcreeps day (which should be your first choice with his solo albums).

It's very much a product of it's time, being firmly rooted in the 80's, a real pop-rock album. But nevertheless it does demonstrate Rutherford's songwriting ability. I know this album seems to get very bad press, but if you are broad minded enough, and like 80's-era Genesis I think this will grow on you. It has more range than most CD's released these days, and is pretty well produced, although it sounds quite harsh sometimes.

Not my favourite Genesis solo offering, but still a strong album if it's given a chance.

Worst album ever by a Genesis member, Terrible voice (he really can't sing). The songs are very poor. Musically it's a disaster. What happened here with Mike Rutherford? It was a mistake to bring out this album. It's a strange experience to hear it, I quite like Mike & The Mechanics.

An embarrassment. Think about Genesis. Banks and Rutherford only sang some unobtrusive backing vocals. There is a reason why they did not sing lead vocals. Banks is just about ok on one track or another, but it is painful to listen to a whole album of his lead vocals. Rutherford is the same. But he is even worse. He cannot sing. He can write the most sublime tracks with amazing melodies. But this is middle of the road rock, with the most awful, gruff and out of tune vocals. There is no variation between the tracks. Definitely one to miss. Perhaps the worst album in the whole of the Genesis discography.

Not really surprised no one has bothered to review this album. I am doing, because I felt a bit sorry for it.Being a bit of a Genesis fan, I bought this album on vinyl when it first appeared.Someone should come up with a name, for the sinking feeling you get, when having bought an album 'blind'it turns out to be an absolute lemon, you know it isn't going to be a 'grower'and you've smashed your piggy bank to buy it! One or two tracks have promising starts;the title track for instance.Otherwise it's all very bland. If you're a real Genesis 'nut' and really need a complete discography, I can't think of any other reason to buy it. The red Rickenbacker on the cover looks tasty, but that's about it. - Sorry Mike.
