One of my all time favourite albums, definitely a five star but .....

Which idiot decided to put different versions of Bicycle Thieves and From Across The Kitchen Table on the CD? Having owned the LP since 1985 I decided to purchase the CD recently. The title track in particular has always stood out for me and been in my all time top 10 songs. I'm sorry to say that I sobbed like a baby when I heard this vastly inferior version without the beautiful intro.

Edit 20 Nov 2007

Just got my hands on the Japanese CD and can confirm it does include the original, and better tracks.

Thank you Gary, I'm a happy man again.

The original album is 5-Star perfect, but avoid this 1-star edition and get the Japanese CD.

Across the kitchen table shows one of the most influencial singer, song writers in recent (ish) times doing what he does best! Jean's not happening is an indie classic, way before it's time, it belongs in the baggy early 1990's manchester.
By seeing that this CD is produced by Ian Brodie (of Lighening Seeds fame) you can be pretty much sure of what you're going to get... indie, guitar pop, folk rock! Indeed.
Having only discovered Michael Head's music in 1999 (via Shack's - HMS Fable) I've had to retrace my steps and once I discovered the Pale Fountains I've seen the light!
A piece of rare british musical history!

On its way to absolute cult status, Michael Head and his pale fountains delivered a second LP as achingly beautiful and moving as the first one!.The songs are so good you want to share them with the world. It is never too late to make someone happy for ever.
