Gaming Beyond Borders
Acer XG Series monitors deliver powerful visuals on a frameless screen to free your gaming and movie experiences from visual borders. WQHD (2560 x 1440) resolution combined with high 144 Hz refresh rates, FreeSyn technology* and 1 ms short response time grant ultra-smooth action sequences with good detail. Plus, built-in eye protection technologies for comfortable viewing experience.
Ultra-Smooth Action in Good Detail
A fast response time of 1 ms GTG (Grey to Grey) fully enhances gamers’ in-game experience. Fast-moving action and dramatic transitions will be rendered smoothly without the annoying effects of smearing or ghosting. A rapid refresh rate, AMD FreeSync technology* and 1 ms short response time grant ultra-smooth action sequences with good detail. Plus, built-in eye protection technologies for comfortable viewing experience. The XG Series also offers multiple connectivity options, including latest HDMI 2.0, DVI and Displayport 1.2.
To ensure that every frame of the game is delivered well, the Acer XG0 comes with AMD FreeSync technology*, which synchronises the monitor’s refresh rates with the GPU. This sophisticated solution eliminates screen tearing without all the usual lag and latency for a good gaming experience.
Zero Frame Design
The Zero-frame design maximises the viewing area and provides a more seamless viewing experience for multi-monitor setups. In addition, the 27 inch monitor offers a WQHD (2560 x 1440) resolution showing up to four times more details than standard HD resolution.
Advanced Eye Protection
The XG Series feature the right technologies for gamers and others who use monitors for long hours. A Flicker-less technology eliminates annoying screen flicker and reduces eye strain. The Blue Light Filter filters out harmful blue light by adjusting OSD settings and Low Dimming technology lowers brightness to 15 per cent to fit different ambient environments. Finally, Acer’s ComfyView Display reduces background reflection and rounds up the most comfortable viewing moments.

1) Monitor does not come with a VESA mount. The real deal breaker for me, this should be standard on every monitor! Update- VESA mount can be purchased here. It work extremely well. Boosted to 5 stars. https://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B01771Q5X0/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
2) The stand it comes with is rubbish. Hardly any adjustment in terms of tilt and wobbles a lot with a slight knock.
3) Red/orange trim looks a bit daft but that's down to personal preference.
4) Glossy back plate. Might be an issue for some people as it can attract loads of finger prints and such but not a big deal for me since it's up against the wall, but still worth mentioning.
I freakin love this monitor because:
1) 144hz - nothing needs to be said here, it's the bomb.
2) Tiny bezel - Always appreciate a tiny bezel with more than one monitor.
3) Great colours - Maybe not as good as IPS colours they're still bloody good.
4) Freesync - Outstanding. I've forgotten what screen tearing is.
So overall this is such a good value for the money (I paid £270. Might be different now) but I wouldn't recommend for photo editing or anything of that nature due to the weaker colours. They're still good, but an IPS will be better. Note you'll need a display port 1.2 cable to use the 144hz freesync features but I managed to overclock it to use 144hz on a DVI-D cable until my DP cable arrived.
OK so the bad.. (I was aware of the below points before I bought it)
No vesa compatibility is a shame and it wouldn't have cost acer anything to include I can't see how they justify this monitor not being wall mountable
The stand is very basic and only offers the bare minimum in terms of adjustment combined with not being able to put this on an arm makes ergonomic setup more than awkward.
Even on brightness 0 this is slightly too bright for my liking however I am photosensitive so this will probably be fine for most people.
Here's the good
Price vs performance: Even at £350-£380 this thing is a beast of a monitor for the price. The technical specifications it boasts for the money are ridiculous. A comparable G-sync monitor costs almost twice as much and an Nvidia card with enough vram to comfortably support the 1440 resolution will also set you back a significant amount. In short this combined with an R9 390 is the best bang for your buck bar none if you can put up with the minor issues then without a doubt this is a great deal.
The sharpness and colour replication on this thing are without a doubt the best on any monitor I've had to date. I was expecting dull drab colours due to the matte finish and assumed corners had been cut with the pannel to hit a price point but I'm still in awe of how good this thing looks.
All in all sure there are better monitors with more features but for me the extra cost was unjustified and after using this monitor for intensive gaming for the best part of 4 months now I can safely say I have no regrets I can't give it 5 stars because for me at least it's not perfect however it's 95% of the way there in in all the areas that really matter it is 100% but the lack of vesa means I can't justify 5 stars
It is a tn panel which compared to an IPS panel at certain angles does not look as could as the IPS version. However the price difference was over £200. So as long as you are face on it is not a problem for this product.
Hope this helps someone :-)
I'd definitely recommend this screen - colours are very vibrant, Acer improved the OSD and it's really easy to switch between pre-set modes or set your own 2 buttons to change things you want, e.g. brightness and volume, or blue light, etc.
I'm always sensitive about brightness compared to ambient light - this screen is so bright I hardly use higher brightness, even when my room is flooded with sunlight. Colours are pleasant and with 2 clicks of the monitor's buttons I can switch to 0% brightness for the evenings and nights.
The only drawback was lack of VESA mount, but I shipped this one from the US: https://www.amazon.com/Adapter-Monitor-XG270HU-G277HU-Pending/dp/B01DAYRXRK
