I'd bought a Mac Mini to use as a bit of a media centre, hooked up to the main TV in the lounge. However, the girlfriend wanted to start using it to do some work, and so a new screen became necessary. The sole reason for getting this one was that it was the same size at the largest iMac screen, which I thought would be large enough. I've also got a plan to hook up a PS4 to it once that's released, which is only fair really...
Good contrast ratio, LED with energy saving modes and the 2ms refresh rate were good enough reason to go ahead, and there's no disappointment so far. Having read one of the negative reviews complain about brightness, I can see where they're coming from. Default setting is quite bright. But this is default, and will not be to everyone's liking, so just tweak the settings using the straightforward controls. Even better - just put it in 'eco' mode, and that seems to cool everything down to non-cataract-producing levels. Other complaints about the resolution are similarly misguided. Documents and some web text don't look as good blown up on a large screen, inches away from your face, just like non-HD channels look progressively worse on larger TV screens. This is obvious, not a product fault. If you're only going to browse the web and use MS Office, get a smaller screen.
As it is, the primary use is for photo editing, for which it is apparently very good. When I get my hands on a PS4, I'll be able to test out the other aspects.
Only complaint - one HDMI input is a little annoying, but not the end of the world.
