My previous monitor (which I still use as well) was an Acer H236HL and I love that monitor also, but for a different reason - it only supports 60hz, but as an IPS display it produces a much cleaner, more balanced and more satisfying image than this monitor.
All in all, for gaming and people who aren't too fussy on top notch color balance this monitor works well, though if you're gonna be doing things that require accurate color display and a clean image such as editing in Lightroom, Photoshop or using Premiere go with an IPS display instead.
This monitor is mainly for gaming at higher frame rates, so very niche and specific group of people will actually need this, or even want it.
It came with both a UK and EU power cables, DVI and HDMI cables, as well as the separated stand which is screwed on easily.
The stand is only adjustable vertically, and is fairly low, if that is of importance to you.
The main concern here are the colours, which many reviews are mentioning. While it's true that they are fairly flat and just overall too bright, this can be rectified with your graphics card settings. I used the Nvidia Control Centre to adjust the brightness and contrast to fit me preference. Doing it on the monitor itself doesn't yield amazing results and is just generally a hassle (having to use those button at the bottom).
The performance though is outstanding. If you're looking at going beyond 60fps gaming this is a very safe gateway, as going from 60 to 100fps is already a world of difference. It might even ruin some games that are locked to 30fps for you, so keep that in mind. Some games might also not be designed for over 60fps performance with features being "processed too quickly", for example mouse sensitivity in one of the games I've tried is increased drastically when above 60fps, resulting in me needing to tune it down a bit specifically for that game.
The monitor is well worth getting and currently seems to be the cheapest solution for a good 144Hz screen
It's important to note however that this screen DOES NOT have in -built speakers. You'll either have to use headphones or purchase a PC speaker system.
However, I would recommend looking on the amazon warehouse deals to pick up this monitor (just search amazon warehouse on your browser and then search for the monitor) It may save you a bit of money. Just BEWARE to inspect the description of each monitor before you purchase it, as some may have ''dead pixels'' which I DO NOT RECOMMEND as it will become very noticeable during play and general usage aside from that most products on amazon warehouse have slight imperfections like scratches or damaged packaging, mine came with very, very, very slight scratches almost un-noticeable to the human eye, and damaged packaging, they sell these at a lower price as they are legally deemed not of quality for consumer purchasess, however, my monitor has lasted 2 years now and is working perfectly with no defects.
I recommend this product strongly but I also recommend purchasing on amazon warehouse to save you a bit of money.
Again, BEWARE of purchasing a monitor from amazon warehouse with ''DEAD PIXELS'' do not purchase monitors with dead pixels in the description.
Colour accuracy - Very bad, at least comparing it to my IPS monitors I use for photo editing
After color calibration - Colour accuracy was Decent for a TN at least
Off angle, viewing sucks as expected but hey it's not a VA or an IPS Panel.
It's just a regular old 1080p 144hz TN, does its job for gaming. After color calibration works nicely beside my IPS monitors.
Definitely, recommend this option for budget orientated gaming. If you cant afford 144hz VA or IPS varients I would recommend buying this or the cheapest TN monitor and just buy a color calibration device with the money you save.
If you are a dedicated gamer and can spare the money to upgrade the 144hz, then I say go for it right now.
Totally worth the money to be able to have that quicker refresh rate. Totally worth the money to have that crisper picture quality.
Solid stand to it, nicely designed too.
Acer smashed it out the park as always
I can force it to run at 144hz with nvida however it is not want is seems. it's fake, in the monitor settings (On the actual monitor) it clearly says its running at 60hz even though nvida says its at 144hz, plus all the screen tearing proves it all.
I have no idea if mine is just faulty but this seems like a scam to me.
Also something to note that is not told in the description, but in the paperwork and the acer website says that you have to connect the monitor to your graphics card with both HDMI and DVI-D! This is a pretty big piece of information to leave out as new graphics cards do not even use DVI-D any more and only have HDMI and Display Ports.
