Customer Reviews, including Product Star Ratings, help customers to learn more about the product and decide whether it is the right product for them.

From the outside it's nice and shiny, & once you open it up it's got a big 'Enter' key and a responsive, comfy keyboard. Unfortunately I haven't found how to turn off the touchpad, and occasionally catch it when typing, but that's rare. I've also noticed it runs hotter than my old compaq, which makes me worry, but no problems there yet (a few months in).
It comes with a ton of software I didn't need & takes a few hours to remove (like most new laptops) but it now runs like a dream. Stripping out over half the programs means it starts up quickly, runs programs quickly and with free avast to replace the ugly preloaded norton I can feel safe too.
I wanted a machine that runs fast for the internet, academic work (excel/word/programming) & occasionally playing games. I haven't tested it against Crysis, but it plays Supreme Commander with detail on 'high' without stuttering (at least, 1 on 1 on 5km x 5km maps). It also plays older games like Baldur's Gate 2 & Red Alert 2 without a hitch.
It does everything I want at a good price. As a desktop replacement, work laptop or mid-range gaming laptop it's worth every penny. I'm a happy customer!
As mentioned HDD failed and my son lost his imprtant college data
Pro's
Large Hard Drive-I've stored all my music (huge collection) games like Half Life 2 and all of my university work and journals onto the laptop and I've still got over 140GB left!!!
WiFi-Even though its only ABG it picks up signals from far off (as in 5 houses down from mine...Quite a way)
Graphics card-yes it's not the best Nvidia card on the market but it's still a good mid-range one. I have played demanding games like Half-life 2 on it comfortably.
The display-watching movies and things like YouTube are great-it may not be HD display but it's very good. If you wanted to you can connect your Laptop to a HD telly via the HDMI port.
Con's
Mouse tracker on laptop is very poor-if you use it occasionally its ok but if you're like me and you use your laptop a lot invest in a mouse.
Crystal eye webcam-it's only 0.3mp...if you use it occasionally its fine but if you use it a lot get another one or buy a different laptop e.g. Dell have a built in 2.0mp in some ranges.
Acer website for updates is very poor. If you want to update the laptop especially the graphics card then you'll have to find websites e.g. LaptopVideo2Go.
Lastly just a minor point, there are preloaded products on the laptop which I would never use such as Orion and Acer's Arcade Deluxe...do what I've done and uninstall them.
Overall if you want an extreme gaming laptop there are better available e.g. Dell XPS and HP Pavilion, if you want something that just does emails and word processing this laptop has too much for you. However if you're like me and want to play latest games but not all the time and/or you need everything going at once (MSN messenger, email, word document, music in background etc) then this is for you!!
The laptop works brillient but I was expecting it to be able to handle the most recent games. It can't.
Alone in the Dark - won't play well on lowest settings. I stoped playing after 2 hours, the frame rate was awful.
Space Siege - only playable on lowest settings and still gittery. You have to turn all the additional features like shadows off as well.
Medal of Honor Airborne - plays okay on medium and low settings only.
Bioshock - plays okay on medium and low settings only.
Don't expect it to play the upcoming games, anywhere near xbox 360 or PS3 quality.
Apart from that it handles windows vista fine. Also, don't expet any other laptop with an integrated graphics card to play better than this one, it won't either it's a lesser graphics card. You need a dedicated graphics card like this laptop has got to even consider playing games.
It's still a real good deal compared to the other laptops for £449.99 though.
