I have to start off saying this book made me laugh so much by the first few chapters it was totally Katherine through and through!!
This is the story of Ben who looks after plants for a living...needing some more money due to family problems he comes across a new job by accident without asking too many questions until its too late!
Then along comes Miryam and he gets roped into the jewish lifestyle for a few dates... meanwhile they both realise they are not who the other thinks they are.
This book has strong lovable charcters.. laughter and loyalty and i loved it from page 1 until the very end.
Ill always 1 click Katherines books now.
I liked Ben, he was an affable guy, the sort of guy that any mother would secretly hope that her daughter will bring home one day (or maybe that’s just me), because this guy was exactly who and what the title implied but it truly was for the best possible reason.
Ben was a normal everyday guy, honest, hardworking and sinfully good looking but for me his best feature was the fact that he had a heart of gold and despite working hard to make a success of his own business when his father gets sick, he finds himself in a bind with limited options on how to help with the mounting medical bills.
An honest guy he takes up a second job to fund the medication that his dad so desperately needs but it is the nature of that job that was always going to raise an eyebrow or two, because Ben flexes his assets and picks up some additional work as an Escort.
Now I am not one to complain, the picture I have of him in my head from the very vivid descriptions that the author used means that I think he was a shoe in for the role but it wasn’t exactly what he wanted to be doing and hence his reticence.
From the blurb, you get the idea of what is to come for him but in all honesty, it is so much more than the blurb lets on.
Miryam Wexler, thought she had life all stitched up, a successful lawyer, she is hurtling towards the next chapter of her life, marriage to her fiancé David. But she is dealt a double whammy when she discovers that he is cheating on her and then he has the audacity to cancel the wedding. I think I would have neutered him at this point but Myriam obviously has more self-decorum that I do because for her he isn’t worth it, she has one priority and that is to keep the details of her torrid situation from her beloved grandma.
So, she hires Ben to pretend to be David and from that minute the madness that ensues was totally engaging.
Initially from the interaction between the two of them you would have been mistaken for thinking that the pair of them really were at opposite ends of the same rope and that there wasn’t a lot of middle ground.
I chuckled at the love hate relationship that was initially glaringly obvious between the two of them but couldn’t help but hope that they could find a way to make this arrangement work, because if they didn’t I have a funny feeling they may just end up throttling each other before they had the chance to see that they had more to fight for than against? There was a lot going on in the story and they took a lot of twists and turns to where they needed to be and I must admit that their antics brought a smile to my face.
A great read that was more than the blurb let on!
Accidental Manwhore is precisely what the title says, meet Ben a little bit down on his luck! his dad's just been diagnosed with cancer, he doesn't have insurance and Ben desperately needs money for his dad's treatment, after going through all his options of extending his plant business to no avail the opportunity arises to make all the money he needs and becomes a male escort (enter the manwhore part). He gets paid thousands of dollars to keep women happy, have lots of good sex and save his dad at the same time until Miriyam comes in fist first and knocks Ben on his ass litterally.
Poor Miriyam she's about to walk down the aisle to the man of her dreams, until she finds out her dream guy David is a cheat! Everyone adores David and she can't bring herself to tell her blind Grandma that she's been dumped for the Secretary.
Instead she pays for a male escort a.k.a Ben to pretend to be David until she has the heart to tell her Grandma.
Ben and Miriyam really do not like each other their total opposites Miriyam's the snobby lawyer and Ben your normal day to day guy, but spending so much time together for Miriyam's family is pulling them towards each other and it's only a matter of time before the attraction shines in them both.
Can they fall in love and make their own happy ending.
It's a hot, sexy and downright funny book and you can visualise these to bickering together, it leaves you laughing out loud at various scenes. Please pick up a copy and enjoy! It is a fantastic read.
Ben needs to make extra money quickly to pay off his dads unexpected medical bills. Although his heart is in the right place, he very naively agrees to take on a second job. I loved Ben. He's really sweet and easy to like even if he is a little slow on the uptake.
Miryam had her future all planned out. She never expected her fiancé to dump her before the wedding and now she finds herself in an awkward situation where she doesn't have the heart to tell her grandmother that her wedding is off. She needs a stand in fiancé but she's not so sure that Ben is the guy to pull it off.
I struggled a bit with Miryam. I didn't like her at first but she did start to grow on me once she chilled out a little. Her grandmother Bubbie is great. She's not as blind to what's happening around as Miryam thinks and I loved the way she was with Ben.
I really enjoyed this book. Ben soon won me over and had me chuckling at his naiveness. A good, light hearted romance that left me with a smile on my face.
