Product description

Review

Aimee Alexander is the pen name of best selling Irish author, Denise Deegan. The Accidental Life of Greg Millar was first published by Penguin Ireland as Love Comes Tumbling. A contemporary story of love and family, it has received the following reviews:

'Has the sparky dialogue, fresh story lines and believable characters her fans have come to expect.' - THE IRISH TIMES

'A captivating and moving story.' - THE IRISH INDEPENDENT

'Will challenge and entertain in equal measure.' - THE SUNDAY INDEPENDENT

'A fantastic read.' - THE RTE GUIDE

'The Accidental Life of Greg Millar is a five-star read. Aimee Alexander writes captivating, heart-wrenching stories with three-dimensional characters that pull you into their convoluted lives. Like her last book, Pause to Rewind, Alexander reduced me to tears more than once but kept the story unfolding at such a pace I couldn't put it down. She handles delicate subject matter too, with bravery and insight. I got an education as well as a damn good story. I highly recommend this book.' Best-selling author, SUZY DUFFY

'A roller-coaster read with strong, credible characters. Pick it up and you won't put it down!' - Best-selling author, COLETTE CADDLE.

I thought this book was going to be a light holiday read. I certainly never imagined it would develop into a nail biting worrier that would prevent me turning out the light at night until I got the the very last word of the very last page.
It's a man meets girl, falls in love and, after a few misunderstandings, they'll get over it and settle down for ever and a day, sort of book.i thought. But there was much more to it than that, it had depths that none of us would find ourselves ready to cope with, not even in the most stable of relationships.
Greg, our hero is a writer. All readers enjoy books about writers, so that makes us feel comfortable, especially when, in my case, I also write. So that is a good reason for starting the book in the first place. Rachel is the girl, designing the art work relating to book production, amongst other things. All is hunky dory, except there are a couple of children, a young son and a nearly teen age girl, always a tricky time for girls even with a mother they love. The children are Greg's, since his wife died in childbirth. But they have a childminder who appears to love the children, with a smidgeon left over for dad...
But it isn't as simple as that, either, oh no! What has Rachel let herself in for? I will say no more about the plot as I want you to read this book and become as involved, against your will, as I did. I normally read thrillers, so you have to realise this book had something special about it to make me keep me so absorbed.
There are some dark moments, that is what makes the book special. And the way the dark moments are dealt with by our two protagonists is very interesting.
I have give the book four stars, because the writing isn't perfect.

I am not completely sure what I expected from The Accidental Life of Greg Miller, having read some positive reviews, buying the book and then not reading it forever. What I got was a story about relationships and love and mental illness that had me hooked from the beginning. I found the characters well drawn and the book well written. It might have gone on a little too long in the end, but not by much and not enough to spoil it for me. A recommended read.

Became immersed in this book. I enjoy books which show me a new aspect of life and this one did just that. A good story and some thought provoking ideas/facts. I shall look for others by this author. A good read.

This could only have five stars, should have more. My husband died after living with bipolar for many years. What a positive testament this book was. Time for society to be kind regarding mental health issues. Well done Aimee. Tissues now put away- beautiful book.

I very rarely bother reviewing the books I read but I had to with this one. It had me hooked from the first page and I honestly couldn't put it down. I really got to love the characters and was gripped throughout the book. The story was excellent and the characters believable. It was gut wrenching and heart warming, funny and devastating. Do yourself a favour and buy this book! You won't be disappointed.

I would start reading this only to struggle with thinking it was a typical boy meets girl, but how wrong was I.
Turning the pages I began to form bonds with characters, willing some to be more assertive, I hated some, I wanted to shake the others, but for the last chapter the tears rolled.. This book evoked all emotions in me.

While not really looking for anything I picked this book out from the list on sale with Amazon. I'm glad I did. If the blurb has you intrigued even a little then go for it, odds are you'll enjoy it too.

...with a bit of romance.
I found this to be a really enjoyable read, full of ups and downs and the reality of dealing with mental health.
